Requirements
  • Operate kitchen equipment as needed, including ovens, stoves, dishwashers, slicers, coffee machines, steamers, mixers, and chef's knives.
  • Meet physical demands that may include sitting, reaching, bending, kneeling, stooping, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting items weighing 40 pounds or less; stand for long periods; and use manual dexterity, auditory and visual skills to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
  • Work in a kitchen environment with exposure to heat, steam, fire, and noise.
Responsibilities
  • Inspect and clean food preparation equipment, work surfaces, and serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices.
  • Regulate ovens, broilers, grills, roasters, and other equipment to ensure food is stored and cooked at the correct temperature.
  • Check food and ingredient quality, track older and newer items, rotate stock, and follow food labeling and dating procedures to ensure freshness.
  • Monitor and prepare food to determine whether it is sufficiently cooked, using methods such as tasting, smelling, or food thermometers.
  • Prepare stations according to company guidelines and supervisor direction.
  • Bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods.
  • Season, weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes, with supervisor guidance and using kitchen utensils and equipment.
  • Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables for consumption.
  • Carve, trim, and prepare meats and seafood for hot or cold service.
  • Bake breads, rolls, cakes, and pastries as needed.
  • Wash pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and other cooking equipment as needed.
  • Compile and maintain food-usage records and assist with inventory as needed.
  • Follow food-specification amounts provided by the supervisor and assist in forecasting preparation needs.
  • Prepare and serve food to customers in a timely manner.
  • Support culinary staff at multiple stations as directed when needed.
  • Communicate kitchen equipment and supply needs to the supervisor.
  • Follow and promote company standards for safety, food handling, sanitation, uniform guidelines, and productivity.
  • Provide customer service by being attentive and approachable, and greeting and thanking customers.
  • Perform other assigned duties and responsibilities as needed.
