Requirements
  • Education and experience equivalent to an Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university in a job-related field of study.
  • One year of legal experience.
  • Ability to operate office equipment.
  • Knowledge of computer applications and standard word processing software.
  • Ability to enter data.
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, organize, plan, and process work, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the general public.
  • Ability to make decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Ability to perform prolonged kneeling, sitting, standing, and walking, and lift and carry files, boxes, and other materials up to 25 pounds unassisted.
Responsibilities
  • Assist prosecutors in preparing subpoenas and routing slips to ensure witnesses are present in court and at examining trials.
  • Schedule and monitor assigned cases to ensure they are processed expeditiously and according to established procedures.
  • Assist with legal research as directed by prosecutors.
  • Schedule witness arrival and departure times for interviews and trials.
  • Perform duties associated with preparation for court as directed by the Judge and assigned prosecutors.
  • Draft routine correspondence and process, compile, and copy forms, legal documents, and other materials.
  • Organize case information and maintain current policy and trial notebooks.
  • Serve as a liaison among prosecutors, attorneys, Judges, witnesses, victims, granting and law enforcement agencies, and other County departments.
  • Respond to and resolve inquiries, problems, issues, and exceptions.
  • Ensure applicable courtroom equipment is available and in workable condition.
  • Advise victims of their rights and compensation entitlements in conjunction with the Victim Witness Division.
  • Notarize documents, order supplies, distribute mail, prepare statistical data, and coordinate transportation of County witnesses with the Victim Witness Division.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
