Anthropic's Claude Managed Agents launch sends Fastly down 18%, Cloudflare off 11%

Fastly shares fell 18% on Friday, with Akamai down 13% and Cloudflare dropping 11%, following Anthropic's launch of Claude Managed Agents. Investors appear concerned the development signals a competitive shift in cloud and edge infrastructure markets. The selloff occurred despite each company investing heavily in AI-driven services. Cloudflare has built Workers AI and an Agents SDK, whilst Fastly CEO Kip Compton noted managing agents has increased platform usage. Akamai recently launched Inference Cloud to support AI inference scaling. Anthropic's Claude Managed Agents offers a hosted service for running long-horizon agents with virtualised sessions, orchestration loops and execution environments. The simplified interface could reduce developer complexity, suggesting AI-native platforms may increasingly overlap with traditional edge and cloud infrastructure functions.

Akamai appoints Sean Li as SVP Regional Sales & Managing Director, Asia Pacific and Japan.

Akamai appoints Sean Li as SVP Regional Sales & Managing Director, Asia Pacific and Japan. Singapore | April 09, 2026 Akamai today announced the appointment of Sean Li as Senior Vice President, Regional Sales & Managing Director for Asia Pacific and Japan. He succeeds Parimal Pandya, who now leads global sales strategy for the company's rapidly growing cloud business. In his new role, Li will oversee Akamai's growth across Asia Pacific, with a focus on deepening customer partnerships, strengthening regional execution, and helping organizations scale cloud, security, and AI strategies with confidence. Asia Pacific is one of the fastest growing and most dynamic regions globally for AI advancement, presenting both opportunity and complexity for enterprises. The region spans highly mature markets alongside rapidly digitizing economies, each with distinct requirements around latency, security, cloud maturity and data residency. For organizations operating across the region, AI cannot be deployed through a one-size-fits-all model - it requires tailored, localized approaches that align with specific business needs, infrastructure realities, and customer expectations. Asia Pacific is not only a high-growth region for Akamai, it is a proving ground for how cloud, security, and AI must come together in the real world. The company has built a significant presence in Asia Pacific since entering the region in 2003, now serving more than 2,000 customers across sectors including banking, gaming, commerce, media, manufacturing, and critical infrastructure, supported by 150 partners across key markets. "Asia Pacific is not just dynamic - it represents a significant opportunity for enterprises to leverage AI to drive operational efficiency and unlock entirely new revenue streams," said Sean Li, SVP Regional Sales & Managing Director, Asia Pacific, Akamai. "However the reality for many business leaders lies beyond the initial adoption of AI; it demands seamless implementation across different markets, infrastructures, and regulatory environments. In this region, success depends on distributing intelligence closer to users, decisions, data, and Akamai is well positioned to address that." Addressing the appointment, Paul Joseph, Executive Vice President, Global Sales and Services, Akamai, said, "Asia Pacific continues to be a region of significant opportunity for Akamai, and Sean brings the leadership, technical depth, and customer centricity needed to lead the business into its next chapter. His track record of driving growth, building strong teams, and aligning innovation with customer needs positions him well to further strengthen Akamai's presence across the region." Li brings more than a decade of leadership experience at Akamai, most recently serving as Vice President and Managing Director, Greater China, where he helped grow the business into one of Akamai's largest markets outside the United States. His appointment reflects Akamai's continued investment in regional leadership and its commitment to helping Asia Pacific organizations build for a more distributed, AI-driven future. About akamai. Akamai launches AI tool to combat brand fraud with 99.99% takedown accuracy

Akamai Technologies has launched Brand Guardian, an AI-powered tool designed to combat brand fraud by automatically detecting and removing fraudulent websites and digital identities. The company says the tool achieves 99.99% automated takedown accuracy and targets sectors including financial services, retail and healthcare. Akamai says generative AI has enabled scammers to create sophisticated fake websites more easily, making manual discovery methods insufficient for brand protection. The tool scans the internet to identify threats that can cause revenue loss and damage customer relationships. On 17 March, KeyBanc reaffirmed its Overweight rating on Akamai with a $120 price target, citing GPU infrastructure opportunities. In 2025, Akamai's Cloud Infrastructure revenue jumped 36% to $314 million, whilst Security business revenue rose 10% to $2.24 billion.

Singapore | April 08, 2026 Akamai announced the appointment of Fiona Zhang as Regional Vice President, Channel Sales and Programs for Asia Pacific and Japan, reinforcing its commitment to a channel-first growth strategy and the critical role partners play in scaling its cloud and security business across the region. In her new role, Fiona will lead Akamai's channel strategy and partner ecosystem across Asia Pacific and Japan, focusing on enabling partners to deliver greater value to customers and supporting enterprises as they navigate increasingly complex digital and security environments. Akamai's partner ecosystem plays a central role in driving customer adoption, market expansion, and revenue growth across the region. This is further supported by Akamai Partner Connect, the company's unified global partner program designed to simplify engagement, strengthen collaboration, and accelerate partner-led growth. Across Asia Pacific and Japan, Akamai is expanding its partner network to meet rising demand for cloud and security solutions, particularly as enterprises accelerate digital transformation and AI adoption. This is reinforced through strategic partnerships across the region, including collaborations with major service providers, value added distributors, system integrators, cloud service providers, and technology partners. Prior to joining Akamai, Fiona was Head of Channels at Palo Alto Networks in China, where she managed the channel organization during a period of rapid market expansion and drove significant revenue growth, including in the mid-market segment. She began her career at Cisco, where she held multiple roles across sales, business development, and channel management. "Asia Pacific is one of the most diverse and fast-moving technology markets in the world, and that makes a channel-first strategy essential," said Fiona Zhang, Regional Vice President, Channel Sales and Programs, Asia Pacific and Japan, Akamai. "At Akamai, partners already play a central role in how we go to market - two-thirds of our customers in the region are served through partners, and 90% of new customers are onboarded through the channel. That momentum continues to grow. Across APJ, our partners are doing far more than reselling; they are building practices, advancing AI adoption, and helping enterprises navigate an increasingly complex digital landscape. My focus is on making Akamai the platform our partners want to build their business around." Addressing the appointment, Sean Li, Senior Vice President, Regional Sales & Managing Director for Asia Pacific and Japan, said, "Our channel ecosystem is fundamental to Akamai's growth strategy.
