Gateway, Mercy Urgent Care join Owensboro Health.

Gateway, Mercy Urgent Care join Owensboro Health. October 5, 2026 | 3:31 pm Updated October 5, 2026 | 3:31 pm Gateway Urgent Care and Mercy Urgent Care have officially joined Owensboro Health, a move that organization leaders say marks a new chapter for the locally founded urgent care organization while keeping its existing leadership, brands, and approach to patient care. OH and Gateway officials said the partnership is expected to position Gateway and Mercy for continued growth while strengthening Owensboro Health's ability to expand access to care across Western Kentucky and Southern Indiana. Gateway CEO John McNulty said the decision was rooted in a desire to build on what the organization has already established. "From the very beginning, our mission has been to create the best urgent care experience possible for our patients and our team members," McNulty said. "Joining Owensboro Health gives us additional resources and opportunities to grow, but it does not change who we are. The same leadership team is here. The same values are here. Our commitment to 'Customer Love' is here. Patients will continue to see the same Gateway and Mercy Urgent Care they know and trust." Founded in Owensboro in 2011, Gateway has grown into one of the region's leading urgent care providers. Under the partnership, Gateway and Mercy will continue operating under their existing names and business model, with McNulty and co-owner Phil Roberts continuing to lead day-to-day operations. McNulty said preserving the culture that helped build the organization was a key consideration throughout the process. "We are proud of what our team has built," he said. "This partnership is about strengthening that foundation, not replacing it. Our patients can continue to expect the same convenient access, same customer service mindset, same commitment to quality care and same familiar faces." McNulty said the partnership also creates opportunities for Gateway and Mercy to reach additional communities while maintaining the approach that has guided the organization since its founding. Leaders from both organizations said they anticipate additional opportunities for growth and collaboration as the partnership develops. "This is an exciting addition to the Owensboro Health family," Owensboro Health President and CEO Mark Marsh said. "Gateway and Mercy have demonstrated a commitment to quality, service, and patient experience that aligns closely with our mission. Together, we have an opportunity to expand access to care, reach more patients and build an even stronger healthcare network across our region." The organizations are continuing to work through integration planning and other operational details. Officials said patients should not expect any immediate changes to Gateway or Mercy locations, hours, services or operations. "Our vision has always been to grow, innovate and find better ways to serve our communities," McNulty said. "We are excited about what the future holds and confident that we can accomplish even more together than we could separately." October 5, 2026 | 3:31 pm

Clinic to offer wheelchair, mobility aid repairs for those facing financial hardship, housing insecurity.

Clinic to offer wheelchair, mobility aid repairs for those facing financial hardship, housing insecurity. August 18, 2026 | 12:12 am Updated August 17, 2026 | 11:48 pm SOS International is bringing its Wheelchair & Mobility Aid Clinic to Owensboro for the first time, offering free repairs and other services to people experiencing financial hardship, housing insecurity, or homelessness. The clinic will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Aug. 22 at the H.L. Neblett Community Center, 801 West 5th Street. The event is funded through a grant from Owensboro Health Regional Hospital and hosted in partnership with Audubon Area Community Care Clinic. Participants can receive free repairs, cleaning, safety assessments, and maintenance for wheelchairs, walkers, and other mobility equipment. Free lunch will also be provided. SOS mobility specialists will work to ensure participants have safe, functional equipment that allows them to maintain independence and access healthcare and other essential services. "Access to reliable mobility equipment can be life-changing, but many individuals face significant barriers when repairs are needed or equipment is no longer functioning properly," said Brian Jointer, local health program manager for SOS International. "Through the support of Owensboro Health and our partnership with Audubon Area Community Care Clinic, we are able to bring this successful program to Owensboro and meet a growing need in the community." Dan Eaton, program director of the Audubon Area Community Care Clinic, said malfunctioning mobility equipment can create additional challenges for people already facing financial or housing difficulties. "Community partnerships like this are essential to ensuring that our most vulnerable neighbors have access to the resources they need to live healthy, independent lives," Eaton said. "For individuals facing homelessness, housing insecurity, or financial hardship, a wheelchair or walker that is not functioning properly can create significant barriers to healthcare, employment, and everyday activities." Eaton said the partnership allows the organizations to bring the service directly to those who need it. "By working together with SOS International, we are helping remove those barriers and bringing much-needed support directly to the people who need it most," he said. "This collaboration reflects the best of our community coming together to improve lives and create opportunities for everyone to thrive." SOS launched its Wheelchair & Mobility Aid Clinic program in 2024 with support from a Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation grant. The program provides free repairs, replacements, cleaning, and maintenance for people who might otherwise go without safe and dependable mobility equipment. The organization said its clinics have served more than 200 members of Louisville's disability community over the past two years. The Owensboro clinic marks the program's first expansion into the community.
