About the job

Requirements
  • Approximately 5–8 years of experience.
  • Comfort with cold outreach and face-to-face selling, including trade shows, job sites, and in-person meetings.
  • Ability to build rapport quickly and develop relationships.
  • Comfort using customer relationship management (CRM) systems and modern sales tools.
  • Ability to assess a business, identify gaps, develop a plan, and execute it.
  • Comfort with autonomy and ambiguity in a scaling, private-equity-backed environment.
  • Willingness to work in person with the platform team in Chicago and in the field.
Responsibilities
  • Own new platform-level revenue by prioritizing high-margin, recurring work and pursuing qualified opportunities across operating companies.
  • Build new general contractor relationships and grow business with existing general contractors.
  • Systematically reactivate approximately 15 general contractors that have not worked with the platform in the last two years.
  • Identify geographies, customer types, and specialties where the platform should expand, and build a plan to capture those opportunities.
  • Help design and launch adjacent service lines, including security and access control and highway guardrail or Department of Transportation work; map the steps to enable an operating company to offer and win the work, and drive the roadmap.
  • Develop a commercial value-creation playbook and tailor and roll it out to each operating company, beginning with the lead company.
  • Partner with general managers, set up and run customer meetings for them, coach them, and provide commercial support.
  • Establish pipeline discipline, customer relationship management system hygiene, and a modern go-to-market process.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior business-to-business, industrial, or construction-adjacent sales experience is a plus but is not required.

About the company

Heritage Holding is a private equity firm that buys majority stakes in founder- and family-led U.S. businesses and grows them over the long term. It typically targets platform investments with enterprise values of $5–$100 million and raises capital from institutions and family offices. The firm differentiates itself through a hands-on, collaborative approach: it provides operational support, partners with existing management, and uses bolt-on acquisitions to scale. Unlike firms focused on short-term exits, Heritage Holding pursues patient, long-duration capital to build durable value rather than financial engineering. Its goal is to create sustainable growth and value by expanding profitable companies across sectors such as business services, healthcare, IT and industrial services, wealth management, and niche areas including MSPs, remote patient monitoring, commercial HVAC, power services, hydrovac, and RIAs managing $200–$750 million AUM.

What believers are saying

  • Heritage raised $220 million in September 2024, oversubscribed by institutions and high-net-worth investors.
  • Glaenzer Electric joined Heritage on April 22, 2026, expanding electrical contracting beyond HVAC.
  • Airside Technology acquisition on July 9, 2026 strengthens Central New York mechanical-services density.

What critics are saying

  • Heritage's 50-plus acquisitions concentrate execution risk if one platform integration fails in 2026.
  • SEC registration began July 26, 2024, so compliance and disclosure discipline are still young.
  • If fundraising slows after Fund I, the long-hold model starves, collapsing deal velocity and hiring.

What makes Heritage Holding unique

  • Founded 2015 by HBS classmates Alex de Pfyffer and Ross Porter, now $220 million Fund I.
  • Heritage Holding closed Airside Technology on July 9, 2026, extending its HVAC roll-up strategy.
  • Its 2026 portfolio spans 50-plus acquisitions across 10-plus platforms, emphasizing hands-on operating support.
