About the company

Escape Technologies offers an API security platform that provides API inventory, security testing, and business logic testing within the CI/CD pipeline. It gives visibility into all exposed APIs, including shadow and zombie APIs, without needing API traffic, and uses an AI-powered scanner to detect risks like OWASP Top 10 and BOLA. Its Feedback Driven API Exploration algorithm discovers vulnerabilities that traditional DAST tools may miss and provides remediation guidance with code snippets tailored to the tech stack. The platform targets security engineers and developers to enable DevSecOps and help with compliance (HIPAA, GDPR, PCI DSS), and has secured over 1,000 organizations, is a Y Combinator 2023 graduate, with about $4.4M in funding.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • March 2026 Series A raised $18 million from Balderton, Uncorrelated, IRIS, and Y Combinator.
  • Escape serves 2,000-plus security teams and runs 300,000 assessments monthly.
  • Customers like BetterHelp, PandaDoc, CyberCube, and Arkose Labs validate enterprise demand.

What critics are saying

  • Wiz, Palo Alto Networks, and GitHub can bundle adjacent security workflows and squeeze pricing.
  • Agentic pentesting on production systems creates false positives, noisy findings, and liability exposure.
  • If AI-agent testing commoditizes, Escape loses differentiation and becomes a feature inside bigger platforms.

What makes Escape Technologies unique

  • Escape’s AI agents test live environments without API traffic access, unlike traffic-dependent DAST.
  • Feedback-driven exploration targets BOLA and business-logic flaws traditional scanners miss.
  • March 2026 rebrand to offensive security engineering broadens beyond API inventory into remediation.
