About the job

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Systems Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • 10 years of professional experience in automotive computer-aided engineering, including multibody dynamics, noise, vibration and harshness, finite element analysis, or computational fluid dynamics.
  • Experience with ADAMS, MotionView/Solve, CarSim, MATLAB/Simulink, design of experiments optimization tools such as HEEDS and Hyperstudy, and driver-in-the-loop systems.
  • Experience and knowledge of vehicle test methods such as kinematics and compliance, flat-track tire testing for tire model creation, industry-standard vehicle dynamics tests, and component testing.
Responsibilities
  • Build vehicle and subsystem models, including chassis, controls, aerodynamics, tires, dampers, and powertrain systems, for static and dynamic analyses. Models may be multibody dynamics or lumped-parameter models for offline, lap-time simulation, or driver-in-the-loop use.
  • Work with Vehicle Dynamics, VEME, Chassis, VE, and Racing teams to define test methods, collect and analyze data, and identify opportunities to build well-correlated models for objective and subjective analytical environments. Develop and document best practices for building correlated models for vehicle development.
  • Help create vehicle dynamics pre-program targets that define the product and support its success. Collaborate with Vehicle Dynamics and Program teams to identify targets, cascade them to subsystems, and ensure an engineering roadmap exists so they can be evaluated through computer-aided engineering analyses. Refine target-setting and definition processes across production and racing vehicles.
  • Identify opportunities to apply holistic systems optimization tools, including design of experiments, regression analyses and tool creation, finite element topology, and multidisciplinary optimization tools, and develop processes for Ford Racing products.
  • Identify opportunities to apply artificial intelligence and machine learning to analytical methods, test data, and correlation.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Systems Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Expertise in project management methodologies and a track record of leading complex, multidisciplinary analytical simulation projects from concept to delivery.
  • Ability to collaborate across global, multicultural engineering teams and present complex technical data to senior leadership.
  • Deep understanding of suspension, steering, driveline, and transmission component physics.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard computer-aided engineering solvers such as Abaqus, Nastran, Ansys, Adams, and Star-CCM+, and with computer-aided design/product lifecycle management environments.
  • Experience managing or directing work packages executed by global engineering service providers or offshore/low-cost-country technical centers.
  • Vehicle testing and development experience; high-performance driving experience, including original equipment vehicle certification, racing, and hands-on instrumented testing.

About the company

Ford Motor Company designs, manufactures, markets, and services a full line of vehicles including Ford trucks, SUVs, cars, electric vehicles (EVs), and Lincoln luxury vehicles. It operates in two main business segments: Ford Blue for internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles and Ford Model e for electric vehicles, with financing and leasing provided by Ford Credit. Its products work by selling vehicles and offering parts and services, while consumers and fleets may finance or lease purchases. The company differentiates itself through its dual-portfolio strategy (ICE and EVs), a large North American core market, and a growing emphasis on electrification, connectivity, and autonomous driving technology, plus an in-house financing arm. Ford’s goal is to become a leader in the electric vehicle market and to expand its capabilities in electrification, connectivity, and autonomous mobility on a global scale.

Ford and JPMorganChase launch Michigan LIFT platform with $1B in contracts and financing

Ford and JPMorganChase have launched Michigan LIFT, a platform connecting manufacturers with innovative suppliers and capital to expand domestic production. Over the next decade, Ford aims to award up to $1 billion in contracts to participating suppliers, while JPMorganChase plans to provide up to $1 billion in debt financing. The initiative includes Michigan Central, Newlab, and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, which aspire to attract 10 to 20 additional industrial buyers representing over $1 billion in annual demand by 2036. Michigan Central will provide physical testing infrastructure across its 30-acre Detroit innovation district, whilst Newlab aims to contribute $20 million in commercialisation services. The platform initially focuses on five areas: robotics, advanced energy, mobility, critical minerals, and life sciences manufacturing.

Ford and GM locked in tight revenue race with quarterly results within $500M

Ford and General Motors continue their tight revenue competition, with quarterly results showing alternating leads between the Detroit rivals. Recent figures show Ford reporting $48.3 billion in Q2 2026, slightly ahead of GM's $48.0 billion for the same period. Ford generates revenue through manufacturing trucks, commercial vans, and Lincoln luxury vehicles, whilst also providing financing services. The company established a multi-energy vehicle joint venture in Spain with Geely Auto and launched a workforce training alliance with partners including BlackRock and Google. GM produces trucks, SUVs, and passenger cars whilst offering connected vehicle services and automotive financing. The manufacturer announced plans to reintegrate smartphone interfaces into upcoming truck models but issued a safety recall affecting hundreds of thousands of vehicles due to rearview camera software issues.

GM and Ford profit outlook shifts as US eases fuel economy rules for trucks and SUVs

General Motors and Ford may benefit from Washington's decision to relax fuel economy standards, a shift that could favour their profitable truck and SUV lines. The policy change reduces regulatory pressure on petrol-powered vehicles, potentially allowing both manufacturers to maintain higher-margin workhorses in their product mix for longer. GM generates $153.8 billion from its North American operations and holds a $72.5 billion market capitalisation, whilst Ford produces $145.9 billion through its Ford Blue division and carries a $50.7 billion market cap. Analysts suggest the relaxed rules could reshape profit expectations for legacy automakers heavily invested in large vehicles. Both companies' truck and SUV portfolios face significant exposure to US fuel economy regulations, making the regulatory shift particularly relevant to their earnings outlook.

Ford vs. Stellantis: Which automaker is the better buy in 2026?

Ford Motor and Stellantis both face challenges as traditional automakers transition to electric vehicles, but their financial positions differ significantly. Ford generated $187.3 billion in revenue for FY 2025, up 1.2% year-over-year, whilst posting a net loss of $8.2 billion. The company maintains a debt-to-equity ratio of 4.7x and generated $12.5 billion in free cash flow. Ford operates through 8,226 dealerships globally and pursues its Ford+ plan, splitting operations between Ford Blue for combustion engines and Ford Model e for electric vehicles. Stellantis reported $178 billion in revenue, down 2.1%, with a larger net loss of $25.9 billion. The company manages 14 brands across 130 markets, leveraging shared platforms to reduce costs. Ford's positive cash flow and smaller losses suggest stronger near-term financial health despite both companies facing industry headwinds.
