Requirements
  • Have a valid driver's license.
  • Maintain eRail certification credentials as required by the railroad.
  • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally with a variety of individuals.
  • Work in all outdoor conditions, including rain, snow, ice, heat, wind, and cold.
  • Travel throughout the yard or facility by walking or driving as needed.
  • See and hear moving equipment to ensure personal and site safety.
  • Use basic computer skills and general technology proficiency.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain awareness and organization within the intermodal facility, including monitoring ground surfaces for potholes, debris, and slippery conditions.
  • Visually inspect identification documents of all people entering the customer facility and announce visitor entry onto the property.
  • Safely use handheld electronic devices to verify and scan driver missions during in-gating and out-gating while keeping inventory accurate.
  • Inspect in-gating equipment for damage and document findings accordingly.
  • Direct third-party drivers and customers to designated locations.
  • Understand outbound destinations and their locations within the yard, and modify destination restrictions as needed.
  • Perform administrative duties as needed, including answering phones, assisting employees and customers with questions, working with company and customer management, and ensuring compliance with facility and company rules.
  • Lock gates and secure crash protection when warranted.
  • Perform general housekeeping as needed.
