Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Advise and counsel students and their families on financial aid and scholarships under close supervision.
  • Assist with reviewing student files and adjusting files as needed.
  • Learn and apply student financial aid and scholarship processes, including awarding, revising, and approving financial aid disbursements according to program policies and guidelines.
  • Communicate with students and their families through email, in-person interactions, phone, and other methods.
  • Review application data against additional data, resolve discrepancies, and adjust data in Banner or Compass as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with campus representatives regarding students' financial aid concerns.
  • Learn, interpret, and maintain knowledge of current federal, state, and institutional financial aid policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Ensure processing activities comply with established policies and procedures while applying critical thinking skills.
  • Review match rules to identify matching student records in Compass and load ISIR files.
  • Work with ISIR data review reports, ensure the correct ISIR transaction is current, review ISIR data for accuracy, and adjust data as needed.
  • Determine whether student awards are accurate after FAFSA changes are made.
  • Manage reports related to student financial aid processing.
  • Ensure files and reports are completed accurately and timely.
  • Train others in the office and answer questions related to assigned duties.
  • Research and resolve issues related to assigned responsibilities using discretion and independent judgment.
  • Assist in preparing paper scholarship checks for deposit into university accounts.
  • Review scanned check images for image quality and balance deposit totals with imaging-system totals.
  • Prepare documents for imaging by identifying documents, separating them into batches, and placing separator sheets as appropriate.
  • Scan document batches, validate scanned documents, and release them into the repository.
  • Provide backup support for the Processing team and cross-train on correcting overawards, determining aid and loan periods, determining aid eligibility, awarding students, and processing documentation to clear C flags on aid applications.
  • Assist with planning and executing departmental events, including financial aid awareness programs, Aggieland Saturday, and New Student Conferences.
  • Research and consolidate financial aid and scholarship data to respond to questions.
  • Attend local, state, and national workshops and conferences.
  • Assist with presentations.
