Requirements
  • At least 4 years of experience, including work requiring independent evaluation, selection, and application of standard engineering techniques.
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering, or a relevant field, is required.
  • The ability to undertake independent action is required.
  • A South Carolina or North Carolina Professional Engineer license, or the ability to become licensed in South Carolina or North Carolina within 6 months, is required.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare design calculations, design drawings, and specifications necessary for the most economical method of construction, and seal drawings and reports as required.
  • Perform independent studies and prepare clear, concise reports of results and conclusions.
  • Direct other engineers and technicians on assigned tasks, and review and evaluate their results.
  • Present and deliver final reports to clients.
  • Maintain and utilize working knowledge of accepted engineering design standards and practices to execute design work that meets client needs and conforms to firm standards.
  • Coordinate the work of drafting personnel, technicians, and other engineers on technical matters pertinent to project assignments.
  • Keep current tasks within project schedule and budget.
  • Provide input and coordination with other departments.
  • Provide data for cost estimating and secure preliminary equipment costs for review.
  • Investigate new methods and implement ideas or procedures that benefit the firm and its clients.
  • Serve as Project Manager for projects primarily requiring work within the employee's group, with possible coordination with other groups and the client.
  • Participate in professional organizations and assist in developing client relationships to help grow the business.
