Requirements
  • A degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Superintendent with a construction general contractor is required.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Design-build experience on relevant project types is required.
  • A valid state-issued driver's license, satisfactory driving record, and vehicle insurance meeting Alston Construction liability coverage requirements are required.
  • OSHA 30-hour Safety Certification is required.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification is required.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the on-site authority overseeing field operations from site development through commissioning.
  • Lead the implementation of Lean Construction practices, including Pull Planning, Make-Ready planning, Percent Plan Complete tracking, and continuous improvement cycles through the Last Planner System.
  • Supervise all electrical field installations, including medium voltage, low voltage, switchgear, UPS systems, and grounding.
  • Lead commissioning integration efforts across electrical, mechanical, and controls systems.
  • Serve as Energy Marshal, overseeing LOTO plans, energization events, and enforcement of NFPA 70E compliance.
  • Coordinate startup, pre-functional testing, functional performance testing, and Integrated Systems Testing activities.
  • Oversee installation and validation of low-voltage systems such as BMS, EPMS, fire alarm, access control, and structured cabling.
  • Collaborate with commissioning authorities to maintain alignment with project milestones and owner requirements.
  • Conduct field walks, installation reviews, and quality inspections to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications.
  • Work with BIM/VDC teams to ensure constructability and field validation of electrical layouts and routing.
  • Track MEP and commissioning progress, deficiencies, and corrective actions with QA/QC teams.
  • Participate in factory witness testing, site acceptance testing, and turnover documentation reviews.
  • Coordinate with utility companies, city inspectors, and third-party testing agents during major electrical milestones.
  • Support O&M manual collection, closeout processes, and client training on system operations.
  • Drive development and maintenance of the six-week look-ahead and constraint log through collaborative planning with trade partners.
  • Integrate Lean planning with the Master Schedule using P6 or equivalent and collaborate with schedulers so field-level commitments reflect the critical path.
  • Champion transparency, trust, and team buy-in across planning phases using visual management tools such as takt boards and zone maps.
