Requirements
  • Knowledge of the purpose of community colleges.
  • Progressive experience as an academic administrator involving undergraduate and/or graduate programs, including responsibility for budgets, personnel recruitment and evaluation.
  • Experience in strategic planning, assessment of program effectiveness and development of guidelines to enhance academic units within the institution and with accrediting bodies.
  • Knowledge of curriculum design and its application to sound academic management.
  • A Master's degree is required; an earned doctorate is preferred, as confirmed by official transcripts.
  • Five years of progressively responsible teaching, administrative and/or educational leadership experience.
  • Three years of upper-level administrative or supervisory experience in a community college or higher education environment.
  • Demonstrated successful experience in leadership, strategic planning, fiscal management, resource allocation and personnel supervision.
  • A distinguished record of teaching, scholarly publications and/or creative accomplishments reflecting a commitment to academic excellence.
  • The position is subject to a criminal background check; some positions may be subject to a fingerprint check.
Responsibilities
  • Set a clear vision for the School and align it with Dallas College's mission and strategic goals.
  • Advance student success through pathways, degree maps, academic support and continuous improvement.
  • Support curriculum, instruction, assessment and faculty professional development across creative disciplines.
  • Build partnerships that expand experiential learning, community engagement and employment opportunities for students.
  • Champion interdisciplinary collaboration among creative fields and across Dallas College functions.
  • Steward people, budgets and resources while identifying opportunities for grants, fundraising and sustainable growth.
  • Represent and advocate for the School, its programs and its people within Dallas College and throughout the community.
  • Oversee faculty and academic managers, with direct responsibility for curriculum strategy, student learning outcomes and assessment, tutoring and supplemental academic support, instruction, and faculty professional development.
  • Develop and maintain student pathways and degree maps within the School.
  • Oversee School programs and faculty, administrators and staff across geographic locations, ensuring consistency of offerings and a seamless student experience.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external organizations to build capacity for experiential learning and employment pipelines for completers.
  • Coordinate with Academic Services to provide students access to tailored academic resources, including library and tutoring support.
  • Ensure curriculum and program excellence through benchmarking and assessment of School and community needs.
  • Complete required Dallas College professional development hours each academic year.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Develop and implement plans that promote growth and excellence in education.
  • Build and lead high-performing teams and foster a collaborative culture.
  • Promote cross-disciplinary and cross-functional collaboration to enhance the student experience.
  • Articulate the School's mission, goals and achievements to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Listen effectively to the needs and concerns of faculty, staff and students.
  • Lead initiatives that improve retention, completion and academic achievement.
  • Use data to inform decisions and program improvements.
  • Emphasize outcomes assessment and continuous improvement in educational offerings.
  • Adapt to changes in the educational landscape, including technology and teaching methods.
  • Anticipate and respond to emerging trends in higher education and relevant creative industries.
  • Manage budgets and resources effectively while prioritizing academic quality.
  • Apply grant-writing and fundraising skills to secure additional resources for the School.
  • Advocate for the School and its faculty, staff and students within Dallas College and in the broader community.
  • Build relationships with external partners, including local businesses and industry stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate ethical, transparent leadership, integrity and social responsibility.
  • Create a welcoming environment and lead effectively in a complex, changing educational landscape.
Desired Qualifications
  • An earned doctorate degree.
