Requirements
  • At least five years of experience in concrete or heavy civil construction.
  • Excellent computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and an adaptable, flexible working style with different types of individuals.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely and positively with team members.
  • Ability to work in office and field settings, including high and low temperatures, areas close to traffic, loud and frequent noise, confined spaces, heights, and indoor/outdoor environments.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise and schedule all construction activities at local job sites.
  • Communicate daily production goals to field teams and hold foremen accountable for achieving them.
  • Review and validate foremen’s daily timesheets, accurate cost coding, and daily logs on all projects.
  • Ensure field adherence to the scope of work and prevent additional time-and-material or change-order work from starting without written client authorization and project management team approval.
  • Validate take-off quantities and secure materials, manpower, and equipment according to the project schedule.
  • Review weekly project financial performance with the project manager and general superintendent to keep the budget on track.
  • Lead and manage multiple crews to achieve production rates in line with the budget.
  • Attend client project meetings and negotiate the timing of change requests with the project management team.
  • Ensure equipment, forms, shoring, and other items are removed from the site to optimize usage and control project costs.
  • Ensure the company’s standard means and methods are used to achieve quality targets.
  • Validate grades and evaluations for accuracy.
  • Maintain a rolling four-week look-ahead for manpower needs on assigned projects.
  • Communicate daily with the project manager about job progress and issues requiring resolution.
  • Validate pour cards.
  • Validate completion of Miss Dig, 811, or One Call requirements for all projects.
  • Validate equipment utilization and drive optimization when feasible.
  • Validate completion of all punch-list items.
  • Communicate consistently with owners and owners’ representatives.
  • Resolve conflicts and disputes to minimize delays and claims.
  • Instruct and enforce field staff compliance with project processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure job cleanup and demobilization tasks are completed when work is finished.
  • Understand and apply the company’s labor-relations policies.
  • Communicate and uphold the company’s commitment to integrity and its code of ethics, and ensure the team does the same.
  • Travel between the office and various job sites as required.
