Environmental Technician

Job Description:

This position is responsible to perform the cleaning tasks required for the upkeep and cleanliness of college buildings and will assist the supervisor in the assignment and direction of work as required.

Essential Job Functions: To identify essential functions, focus on the purpose and the result of day-to-day duties performed throughout the year and include compliance, supervisory, and budgetary responsibilities.  For each key area of responsibility, use action verbs and determine the percentage of time typically spent performing that duty.  List the areas of responsibility in descending order, with the responsibility requiring the most amount of time first.

10  %         A.  Vacuum, spot clean upholstered furniture using vacuum cleaner and/or brush. Clean baseboards.

10  %         B.   Sweep and mop stairs, landings by hand or machine.

10  %         C.    Clean offices, classrooms, public areas and restrooms.

10  %         D.   Clean and dust furniture, bulletin cases, pictures, fixtures, door frames, and related furnishings.

10 %          E.   Clean, sanitize and disinfect restrooms. Replenish paper and soap supplies.

10 %          F.   Collect and carry out trash and recyclable material.

10 %          G.  Perform snow removal as assigned.

10 %          H.  Communicate to the supervisor any maintenance problems in the assigned areas.

10 %          I.  Assist the supervisor with the inspection of work in the assigned buildings to assure standards are being met.

10 %          J. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education:

Required:  Combination of training, experience and education directly related to custodial cleaning.

Preferred: High school diploma or equivelancy.

Professional Experience:

Required: No experience necessary.

Preferred: Floor care training or three years of custodial experience.

The stating salary for this position is $16.37 per hour.
