Requirements
  • A degree or certificate from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education accredited sonography program is required.
  • Certification in cardiac and/or vascular ultrasound by the ARDMS or CCI within 12 months of graduation or cross training is required.
  • Basic Life Support is required.
  • Must communicate effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, families, staff, and physicians.
  • Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the role's tasks, including sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, and assisting with patient positioning; frequent lifting/carrying up to 35 pounds and occasional lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to perform all essential functions of the position with reasonable accommodation if disabled.
  • Must abide by the Standards of Conduct and report activity that appears to violate them.
Responsibilities
  • Provide technically diagnostic-quality exams for physician interpretation in a timely manner.
  • Assist cardiologists, vascular surgeons, or appropriate physicians during invasive ultrasound procedures.
  • Maintain a current New Hampshire State License and appropriate credentials.
  • Perform quality ultrasound exams on patients in the assigned area.
  • Implement clinical protocols and policies.
  • Review order requisitions for pertinent information, special requests, and correct procedures as ordered.
  • Review physician orders for procedures or tests.
  • Assist patient reception staff with patient information as needed.
  • Complete documentation on patient exams and all required processes to ensure appropriate exam charges.
  • Maintain medical supplies and required stock items in all rooms, and prepare and clean patient exam rooms.
  • Prepare all equipment necessary to perform patient exams appropriately.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the role.
