Requirements
  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field is essential.
  • An MBA, CFA, CPA or other advanced degree or certification is often preferred.
  • Extensive experience in financial planning and analysis (FP&A), corporate finance, corporate strategy or a related field and depth of knowledge in a life and annuity insurance company is key.
  • Leadership experience in managing teams and projects is crucial.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and analysis.
  • Familiarity with financial software and enterprise planning systems.
  • Ability to develop and implement financial strategies, analyze industry trends, and provide actionable insights.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with senior management, external entities, and various departments.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with different departments and business lines such as risk management, capital management, and strategy.
  • Skills in managing large-scale projects, including finance transformation initiatives and system implementations.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee quarterly and annual financial analysis of company results and financial sensitivities. Communicates accurate picture of company sensitivities and recommendations for actions.
  • Works closely with Pacific Life Risk Management, Capital Management and divisions to collaborate across company to understand and analyze business results and financial projections. Ensures consistency and accuracy of reporting of projections and provides information that is used by senior management.
  • Develops strategy for financial communication with external entities: Rating Agencies, Banks, DOI’s, subsidiary/country regulatory agencies, investors. Oversees preparation of Board Report, Rating Agency and other financial presentations.
  • Overall responsibility for leading the annual budget consolidation, setting expense efficiency targets, quarterly financial reviews and planning process. Includes consolidating & analyzing financial plan information for communication to senior management.
  • Partner with HR on recommendations to senior management on appropriate incentive targets for the business lines and the Enterprise overall.
  • Responsibility for delivering curated industry insights by owning and driving the strategy to analyze industry trends, leading and mentoring a lean team of analysts and ensuring they have the appropriate resources, maintaining a SWOT analysis for relevant trends and preparing detailed reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
  • Finance Transformation - Leader of the Business Insights/FP&A workstream with responsibility for delivering the workstream objectives, including 1) Implementation of single global enterprise planning system & process redesign 2) Enterprise financial dashboards 3) Global expense management 4) driver-based planning / forecasting (where appropriate) and 5) Capital forecasting and attribution capabilities (in partnership with the Capital Management team.
  • As requested, work with senior management on various initiatives such as disclosure committee, acquisition analysis and due diligence, and new business operations.
  • Responsibility for Corporate Division FP&A, including plan development, quarterly forecasting and analysis, and management reporting.
  • Partner with Enterprise Capital Management and Divisions to align capital forecast, plan, and results with broader Enterprise financial story / results.
  • Partner with Enterprise PMO to establish Enterprise Value Management efforts in line with enterprise projects committee expectations.
