  • Understanding of service-level agreements, operational metrics, and service reliability concepts, including service-level objectives and service-level indicators.
  • Proven ability to deliver through others while maintaining the technical depth required to contribute hands-on when appropriate.
  • Significant experience operating or supporting data migration processes in production environments.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience using artificial intelligence tooling to increase team productivity, or a strong interest in doing so.
Responsibilities
  • Line-manage and support the development of Migration Operations Engineers, including conducting 1:1s, performance reviews, and fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
  • Recruit, onboard, and retain strong operational engineers, building a team that can scale with migration volume.
  • Set the standard for operational quality and hold the team to that standard.
  • Mentor and coach team members in migration best practices, triage, root cause analysis, and escalation, delivering constructive feedback with actionable development areas.

  • Ensure migrations complete well within service-level agreements by organising the team and on-call rota for coverage during critical migration events.
  • Own operational readiness for large-scale and time-sensitive migration windows, including risk assessments, checklists, and go/no-go decisions.
  • Lead root cause analysis on failed or delayed migrations, identify recurring failure patterns and systemic issues, run post-incident reviews, and ensure lessons learned prevent recurrence.
  • Define and maintain triage frameworks, severity classification, prioritisation criteria, and escalation paths.
  • Ensure migrations meet defined service-level agreements and quality benchmarks, contributing to the definition and evolution of those standards.
  • Drive automation initiatives to reduce operational toil, improve data integrity checks, and increase migration throughput.
  • Maintain and improve migration operational documentation, playbooks, and best practices.
  • Adapt plans quickly when circumstances change mid-migration and make sound judgement calls under pressure.
  • Provide structured, prioritised operational feedback and requirements to the Migration Product and Migration Platform teams, acting as the voice of operations in platform decisions.
  • Act as the migration operations function’s primary liaison with Onboarding and Support teams and proactively drive communication.
  • Flag migration risks, blockers, and timeline impacts to stakeholders, manage expectations, and negotiate timelines when needed.
  • Build working relationships with customer-facing teams to understand the school’s perspective and feed that insight into migration prioritisation and execution.
  • Run or contribute to regular cross-team syncs to maintain alignment and surface issues early.
  • Communicate migration status, risks, and decisions clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex migration issues into understandable updates tailored to the audience.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in software-as-a-service environments, particularly education technology or school management information systems.
  • Experience with data migrations between competing platforms at scale, including extract, transform, load processes, cutovers, and decommissioning of legacy systems.

Office adds up to growth for school software firm.

Office adds up to growth for school software firm. An education software firm says it has laid foundations for growth with an office deal. Arbor Education is moving into Leeds' 34 Boar Lane. Bosses say the site represents a "real investment in its people (and provides) a home that matches its ambition". The company - known for school information management systems - has taken a 9764sq ft base on a ten-year lease in the city hub, which stands close to Leeds' railway station and is owned by Kinrise. Lewis Tasker, Arbor Education chief people officer, said: "As we continue to grow, we wanted a home in Leeds that matches our ambition and gives our team a workplace they can be proud of, and this building does exactly that. "Everything we do comes back to supporting schools and teachers, and attracting and retaining brilliant people is how we keep delivering for them. George Aberdeen, Kinrise co-founder, said: "Securing Arbor Education as a tenant is a great outcome. "Arbor's mission to make life easier for schools and teachers is one we're genuinely pleased to be part of. "It is exactly the kind of occupier we want to see in our portfolio." The 34 Boar Lane building is being marketed by Knight Frank. Eamon Fox, partner and head of office at the commercial property firm's Leeds base, added: "This significant deal is a resounding endorsement of the quality of this magnificent building. "Arbor Education is a proven leader in its specialist field and one of the fastest-growing and most progressive education software companies in the UK."
