Requirements
  • An Associate’s degree in a relevant field is required.
  • A current Florida Basic X-Ray Machine Operator or Radiologic Technologist license is required.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • An EKG certificate is required.
  • A minimum of one year of relevant experience is required.
  • The incumbent must be willing to travel or float between sites.
Responsibilities
  • Operate radiologic and magnetic imaging equipment to produce diagnostic images of the body.
  • Review and evaluate developed x-rays, videotape, and computer-generated information to determine whether images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes.
  • Record thorough and accurate patient medical histories.
  • Explain procedures, observe patients to ensure safety and comfort during scans, monitor patients’ conditions and reactions, and report abnormal signs to a physician.
  • Position and immobilize patients on the examining table.
  • Arrange imaging equipment and adjust controls to set exposure time and distance.
  • Record, process, and maintain patient data and treatment records, and prepare reports.
  • Organize examination rooms and ensure that the necessary equipment is ready for use.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and minor emergency repairs on radiographic equipment.
  • Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
  • Perform radiological tests for concierge patients, including routine x-rays, bone density testing, pulmonary function testing, hearing and vision testing, and electrocardiograms.
  • Enter patient medical information into the electronic medical record system.
  • Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them to see providers.
  • Operate medical equipment used to administer routine diagnostic tests.
  • Assist providers with patient examinations and procedures.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Medical Assistant certification is preferred.
