New chapter of care Opens in pleasanton. Sutter Opens New Urgent Care in San Francisco's Mission Bay Sep 28, 2026 Sutter Health New clinic brings same-day care to one of San Francisco's fastest-growing neighborhoods SAN FRANCISCO - Residents, workers and visitors in Mission Bay now have a new option for same-day medical care with the opening of Sutter Health's newest urgent care clinic near Oracle Park. Located at 240 King St., the 2,156-square-foot clinic has four exam rooms and portable X-ray equipment and is open seven days a week, 365 days a year. California State Sen. Scott Wiener, who represents Senate District 11, with Christina Oh, Sutter Health chief operating officer, during a recent visit to Sutter Health. "We are so excited to open our second urgent care in San Francisco," said Christina Oh, Sutter Health's chief operating officer. "People need care where they live and work, and this gives them another way to get care quickly, close to where they are." The new clinic builds on Sutter's longstanding presence in the neighborhood. "This has been a Sutter location for some time, and we saw an opportunity to build on that presence by bringing urgent care to this part of the city," said Liz Armstrong, CEO of Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation - South. "It's a way to better meet the needs of the people who live, work and spend time here." Urgent care provides same-day evaluation and treatment for many common illnesses and injuries, including infections, sprains and minor fractures. The clinic also offers lab services and can connect patients to primary care, specialists, imaging and other services across Sutter's network when additional care is needed. "At Sutter, we recognize that patients need access to a range of services across multiple care settings," said Dr. Jonathan Lee, chair of the Primary Care Service Line for Sutter West Bay Medical Group. "Urgent care is an important part of that continuum." The Mission Bay clinic is Sutter's second urgent care location in San Francisco and part of a broader expansion of same-day care across Northern California. Sutter currently operates more than 40 urgent care centers and plans to grow that network to more than 50 locations by 2030. Mission Bay has grown into a major hub for technology, education and sports, with Oracle Park and surrounding neighborhoods bringing residents, workers and visitors together throughout the year. "When someone gets sick or injured, they want a convenient option close by," said Carolin Delker, vice president of Sutter's Urgent Care Service Line. "This location gives people in Mission Bay another place to turn when they need care that can't wait for a regular appointment." The clinic was developed through a collaboration among Sutter's clinical, operations, technology and facility planning teams, along with construction and trade partners. "This project took a lot of people working together to bring it to life," said Kate Baust, senior director of operations for Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation - South. "We're excited to open the doors and start caring for patients in this community." Health topics.
New chapter of care opens in Pleasanton. Sep 25, 2026 Sutter Health Sutter Health leaders, colleagues, and elected officials gathered Sept. 17 to celebrate the opening of the new Pleasanton Care Complex, an important milestone in Sutter Health's commitment to expand access to care in the Tri-Valley area. The celebration recognized the many people whose vision, expertise and collaboration helped transform this project from an idea into a welcoming place for care. The 64,000-square-foot facility was designed around the needs of patients and their families, bringing a range of medical specialties together under one roof. Services include orthopedics, podiatry, physiatry, ophthalmology and optometry, audiology, urology, ear, nose and throat care, gastroenterology, and general surgery, along with laboratory and imaging services. Patient care began Monday, Sept. 21, with an ambulatory surgery center expected to open in January 2027. "Today marks another key step forward in expanding access to comprehensive, high-quality care in the Tri-Valley area," said Kevin Cook, president of Sutter Health's Greater Silicon Valley Division. "The Pleasanton Care Complex represents Sutter's commitment to bringing more services closer to where our patients live and work." He thanked the operations, facilities and planning teams who made the Pleasanton Care Complex reality, as well as the providers and care teams who will deliver compassionate, coordinated care to Pleasanton and surrounding communities. "We want to provide the best, most comprehensive, and personalized care for our patients," said Dr. Kurt VandeVort, CEO of Palo Alto Foundation Medical Group. Kevin Cook, president of the Sutter Health Greater Silicon Valley Division, accepts certificates from Tamara Dehnert, district representative with California State Senator Jerry McNerney's office, and Ebony Odior, district representative from Assemblymember Liz Ortega's office. Dr. Mat Hernandez, chief medical officer for Sutter Health's Greater Silicon Valley Division, highlighted how the new complex supports a broader strategy to expand capacity and improve access throughout the region. "By building the right care in the right locations, we are making it easier for patients to receive care where they need it, when they need it," said Hernandez. "We are so excited to welcome patients, caregivers and community members to this new chapter of care in Pleasanton." Community leaders also joined the celebration and welcomed the investment. David Haubert, Alameda County supervisor, highlighted the complex's importance to the health and well-being of local families, as well as its support for local jobs and long-term economic vitality. Julie Testa, a Pleasanton city councilmember, noted that bringing multiple specialties together will make care more convenient, connected and accessible throughout the Tri-Valley area. Sutter Health has a growing presence in the region. In July, teams opened the nearby Pleasanton Care Center at 5075 Hopyard Road, offering physical therapy, advanced imaging and full-service pediatric urgent care. Together, these investments are expanding access closer to where people live and work.

She will serve as dyad partner to Sutter Health Chief Physician Executive Dr. Todd Smith, co-leading Sutter's clinical and nonclinical operations. Second Harvest sets ribbon cutting for warehouse space. The Bulletin Published: Sep 18, 2026, 2:25 AM Second Harvest of the Greater Valley will host a ribbon-cutting celebration marking the opening of Second Harvest's new 10,000-square-foot warehouse expansion - the latest milestone as the agency celebrates its 50th year of service in the region. The ribbon cutting is Thursday, Sept. 24, at 10 a.m. at Second Harvest of the Greater Valley, 1220 Vanderbilt Circle, Manteca. The additional warehouse space can accommodate 348 pallets which is equal to approximately 14.5 truckloads. This provides capacity to store an estimated 290,000 additional pounds of food at any one time. The expansion will allow Second Harvest to receive and organize more food, move it more efficiently and respond more effectively as community needs change. "For 50 years, Second Harvest has grown through the strength of partnerships and a shared commitment to our neighbors," said Jessica Vaughan, CEO of Second Harvest of the Greater Valley. "This expansion gives us the space to serve more efficiently, increase the amount of food available to our community and better support the agencies that help us reach our neighbors in need throughout the areas we serve." The expansion was made possible through community health investments from Sutter Health and the California Food Bank Capacity Program, administered by the California Department of Social Services. "Through the California Food Bank Capacity Program, we are expanding California's emergency food network to better meet the emerging needs of communities throughout the state," said Jennifer Troia, Director of the California Department of Social Services. "We are proud to partner with Second Harvest of the Greater Valley on this 10,000-square-foot expansion of their facility." Second Harvest and Sutter Health have collaborated for years, sharing an understanding that reliable access to nutritious food is an important part of building healthier communities. Some of Sutter's first community health investments supported Second Harvest's Mobile Fresh program. It provides 30-40 pounds of fresh produce and assorted groceries to individuals, families and seniors facing barriers to access. Mobile Fresh trucks are active in San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties almost daily, bringing essential nutrition directly to the communities that need it most. Sutter's current community health investment for their Capital Expansion Project helps increase the cold storage capacity and logistics infrastructure inside the expanded warehouse. In the past year, team members from Sutter Memorial Medical Center, Sutter Gould Medical Foundation and Sutter Tracy Community Hospital have also volunteered at Second Harvest to assemble prescription bags for food distribution. "A person's health is affected by many factors outside the walls of our hospitals and care centers, including access to healthy foods. We invest in organizations that help bridge those gaps," said Division Vice President and Ambulatory CEO for Sutter Health's Central Valley Division and current Second Harvest Board Member Amber Campbell. "When we work with organizations like Second Harvest to address these barriers, we can positively impact the overall wellness of individuals, families and entire communities." Second Harvest of the Greater Valley Food Bank opened in 1976 initially serving senior citizens in San Joaquin County. Over the years it has expanded its reach and impact, now distributing more than 20 million pounds of food to 350,000 people annually in San Joaquin, Stanislaus Counties and beyond through a network of over 80 partners and food distribution programs.
Sutter Health and Presidio Trust launch first-of-its-kind partnership. Founding partnership creates a new model for sustaining public spaces and advancing community health through nature. September 15, 2026 16:00 ET | Source: Sutter Health San Francisco, Sept. 15, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) - As communities look for new ways to improve health, strengthen social connection and sustain treasured public spaces, not-for-profit health system Sutter Health and the Presidio Trust today announced a landmark partnership designed to do all three. As the Presidio Trust's Founding Partner and Official Healthcare Partner, Sutter Health becomes the first nonprofit healthcare organization to hold an official partnership designation with a U.S. national park site. Together, the organizations are creating a new model that connects healthcare, nature and community well-being while helping support one of the nation's most visited urban national park sites. The partnership will bring free health and wellness experiences to the Presidio, beginning with weekly outdoor yoga in fall 2026. In 2027, Sutter Health, through their recently announced partnership with the San Francisco 49ers, will introduce an outdoor wellness installation and additional programming designed to encourage movement, recreation and healthy living. The collaboration comes as healthcare and community leaders increasingly recognize the role that prevention, physical activity, mental well-being and social connection play in people's health. Research has associated time in nature with reduced stress, improved mental well-being, increased physical activity and stronger social ties. "Part of our vision is helping people get and stay well, and so much of that comes down to the choices we make every day," said Warner Thomas, President and CEO of Sutter Health. "Getting outside, staying active and being proactive about your health are important parts of preventative care - helping us reduce health risks, prevent illness and stay healthier over time. Through partnerships like this, more people in the communities we serve will have access to opportunities to be active, support their well-being and enjoy one of the Bay Area's most treasured public spaces." Rooted in a shared belief that access to nature can improve physical and mental well-being, the partnership brings Sutter Health's experience in preventive care to the Presidio's natural setting. It will create new opportunities for residents and visitors of different ages, backgrounds and abilities to support their health through movement, recreation and community connection. "At the Presidio Trust, we've seen the transformative power of nature on people's physical and mental health," said Jean Fraser, Chief Executive Officer of the Presidio Trust. "We're proud to partner with Sutter Health to give more people more reasons to spend time in this magnificent national park site while supporting its long-term sustainability." "San Francisco's public spaces bring life to our neighborhoods and offer places for residents of all ages to move, connect, and explore," said Mayor Daniel Lurie. "This partnership shows what's possible when the public and private sectors come together to invest in the places that strengthen our city and support our people. I want to thank Sutter Health, the Presidio Trust and the San Francisco 49ers for coming together to activate and sustain the Presidio - one of our city's most extraordinary public spaces - and bring more people out to experience everything it has to offer." One of the partnership's first initiatives is Yoga in the Park, presented by Sutter Health, a free weekly wellness series offered from Sept. 13 through Nov. 22 at Outpost Meadow in collaboration with Sports Basement. Open to participants of all ages and abilities, the classes offer opportunities for movement, mindfulness and community in one of the Bay Area's most recognizable outdoor settings. Each session can accommodate up to 50 participants, with advance registration available at here. The partnership will expand in 2027 with an outdoor wellness installation and community programming developed by Sutter Health and the San Francisco 49ers. The experiences will create additional ways for residents and visitors to engage in movement, recreation and healthy living at the Presidio. Through free wellness programming, outdoor experiences and community events, the partnership aims to encourage more people to spend time outside, be physically active and connect with one another. Future initiatives will focus on making health and wellness experiences accessible and welcoming to a broad range of Presidio visitors. A New Model for Public Benefit The Presidio Trust operates under a distinctive self-sustaining financial model and does not receive annual congressional appropriations for its day-to-day operations. It instead relies on earned revenue, philanthropy and strategic partnerships to care for the park and improve the visitor experience. As the inaugural partner in the Presidio Trust's Corporate Sponsorship program, Sutter Health is helping demonstrate a new approach to sustaining public spaces through mission-aligned partnerships. The program creates opportunities for organizations to support community assets while advancing shared goals that benefit the public, including health, recreation, education and environmental stewardship. With an estimated 9.5 million annual visits, the Presidio is consistently among the most visited national park sites in the country, drawing more visitors than Yosemite and the Grand Canyon combined. Its 1,000 acres include landscapes, forests and native plants, along with 53 miles of sidewalks and trails and a free park shuttle. The Presidio is also home to Fort Point National Historic Site, eight monuments and memorials and a public heritage gallery at the Presidio Officers' Club, the park's oldest building. In 2025, the Outpost nature playground and nearby Field Station welcomed 500,000 visits, supported in part by Sutter Health's After Hours program, which extended summer hours for working families. The new partnership builds on that work and expands the organizations' shared vision for the future. Together, Sutter Health and the Presidio Trust aim to demonstrate how healthcare organizations, public institutions and community partners can improve well-being, strengthen public spaces and create lasting benefits for the communities they serve. About the Presidio + Presidio Trust The Presidio is one of America's most visited national park sites, located within the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, created to bring national park experiences closer to where people live - in cities. Spanning 1,500 acres next to San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge, the Presidio is among the most biologically diverse parks in America. Historically home to native peoples and a military post under three flags, its facilities have been reinvented as museums, restaurants, hotels, homes, and offices. The Presidio Trust is the federal agency that stewards the Presidio, in partnership with the National Park Service, and with support from the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy. The Trust is responsible for funding park operations without annual congressional funding, primarily by leasing homes and workplaces and offering visitor amenities. The new sponsorship program seeks to build a select portfolio of no more than five corporate partners with additional values-aligned organizations committed to supporting the Presidio's mission and the communities it serves.
