Blue Origin is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Ground Systems Engineer with an active TS/SCI clearance to support our expanding initiatives within the NSS community. The successful candidate will have significant experience in the development of systems that can effectively operate in these types of secure environments. This includes a demonstrated understanding of related capabilities such as cross domain solutions, cyber security architectural principles and the needed software development standards, ensuring secure and efficient communications between various security domains. As a Ground Systems Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design, development, integration, and maintenance of ground-based systems that support our space missions and advancing ground capabilities.
This position will report to the In-Space Systems, Ground Capabilities Director.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, integrate, and maintain ground systems advancing capabilities to support our NSS initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, define systems architecture, and develop detailed system design specifications.
- Develop software solutions that facilitate secure data transfer between various security domains, ensuring compliance with relevant security policies and standards.
- Conduct system-level testing, troubleshooting, and performance optimization to ensure robust and reliable operation of ground systems.
- Support the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, documentation, and maintenance.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on ground systems engineering best practices, including security, scalability, and maintainability.
- Ensure that all ground systems deployments meet or exceed regulatory and security compliance requirements, including those mandated by the TS/SCI clearance level.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and processes; provide training and support to operational teams as required.
- Engage with external stakeholders, including government agencies and contractors, to align ground systems engineering efforts with broader program objectives.
Basic Qualifications:
- Active TS/SCI clearance is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in ground systems engineering, with a focus on NSS software development and network protocol security policies, standards and requirements.
- Expertise in designing and implementing secure communication systems that operate across multiple security domains.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, or similar.
- Strong understanding of security protocols, encryption, and data integrity principles.
- Demonstrated experience in system integration, testing, and performance tuning.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic and collaborative team environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to a diverse audience.

Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline.
- Experience with space mission ground systems, including telemetry, tracking, and command systems.
- Knowledge of national security and defense-related compliance regulations.
- Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for software development (e.g., Agile, DevSecOps).
- Experience with cloud-based infrastructure and services, such as AWS or Azure.
- Certification in relevant technologies and security domains is a plus.
Compensation Range for:
WA applicants is $136,800.00-$191,520.00
