Chief Engineer – Network / Systems Engineering Lead

About the job
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 10+ years of network or systems engineering experience, including 5+ years in a lead or chief engineer role.
- Experience engineering or sustaining Department of Defense network infrastructure, including exposure to secure or classified systems.
- A senior network certification such as CCNP or CCIE may be required.
- DoD 8140/8570-aligned IAT Level II or III certification, such as Security+, CySA+, or higher, may be required.
- An active Top Secret clearance is required, with eligibility for TS/SCI potentially required for certain work areas.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Availability to support a fast-paced 24/7/365 mission-support environment, including occasional after-hours support for major outages or engineering events.
- Serve as the senior technical authority for network architecture, systems engineering, and technical integration across a consolidated, multi-site Department of Defense enterprise.
- Own technical solution integrity, engineering change management, secure architecture, and technical risk across supported installations spanning legacy sustainment and modernization.
- Serve as technical lead for network infrastructure design, sustainment, and lifecycle or technology refresh across supported sites.
- Own the Engineering Change Proposal process and the technical configuration baseline.
- Ensure interoperability across consolidated legacy systems and lead technical transition planning.
- Provide engineering authority for secure and classified mission systems and their required availability.
- Coordinate with cybersecurity and Information Systems Security Manager staff on secure architecture and Risk Management Framework and Authority to Operate engineering decisions.
- Lead modernization engineering involving zero trust architecture, DevSecOps, hybrid or commercial cloud, and AI-enabled operations.
- Serve as the technical escalation point for complex outages, capacity issues, and performance issues.
- Represent the contractor engineering position in Technical Interchange Meetings and Configuration Control Boards.
- Own COMSEC, TEMPEST, and spectrum considerations where they intersect with network architecture.
- Drive technical documentation, design verification, and compliance with applicable Department of Defense architecture, Risk Management Framework, and spectrum standards.
- Provide recurring presence at supported installations and travel estimated up to 25%.
- A master's degree is preferred.
- Modernization experience involving zero trust, cloud, and DevSecOps, with Risk Management Framework and Authority to Operate familiarity, is strongly preferred.
- United States Space Force, United States Air Force, or Department of Defense space mission environment experience is preferred.
