Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations, Business, or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • Three to five years of experience in a manufacturing or operations environment.
  • Experience leading or co-leading at least three kaizen events or improvement projects.
  • Demonstrated success implementing and sustaining changes in manufacturing environments.
  • Comfort working on the production floor with operators and supervisors.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing fundamentals, including value stream mapping, takt time, line balancing, pull systems, standard work, visual management, and 5S.
  • Knowledge of process-improvement methodologies, including PDCA, A3 problem solving, and root-cause analysis using 5 Whys.
  • Ability to work with production data and perform basic analysis, including pulling cycle times, reading Pareto charts, and identifying bottlenecks.
  • Understanding of Daily Management basics, including huddles, relevant metrics, and tracking and closing action items.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and basic data visualization, including creating charts and dashboards.
  • Ability to explain problems and solutions clearly to frontline workers and engineers.
  • Ability to collaborate with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain.
  • Ability to document clearly, follow through on commitments, and identify when standards are not being met.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and co-lead kaizen events on assigned production lines, including standard work design, line balancing, Daily Management setup, visual controls, 5S, SMED, and error-proofing.
  • Plan kaizen events with the Continuous Improvement Manager and E3 engineer, and facilitate problem-solving sessions with cross-functional teams.
  • Conduct basic value stream mapping and process analysis to identify improvement opportunities in assigned areas.
  • Develop and implement standard work, including work sequences, takt time calculations, operator job aids, and visual standards.
  • Track project progress and report status, blockers, and results weekly.
  • Conduct time studies and bottleneck analysis to identify unbalanced or non-value-adding work.
  • Make data-driven recommendations and test ideas before full implementation.
  • Present findings clearly to the leadership team.
  • Work with operations teams to implement standard work and visual controls on assigned lines.
  • Set up Daily Management huddles and support teams in running consistent meetings.
  • Audit standard work compliance and Daily Management discipline, and identify barriers to adoption.
  • Coach operators and supervisors on following standards and escalating problems quickly.
  • Support the E3 engineer in sustaining improvements and investigate why changes fail to persist.
  • Train operations personnel on systematic problem-solving methods, including PDCA and root-cause thinking.
  • Coach supervisors and operators on Lean principles, including visual management, flow thinking, and waste elimination.
  • Support the E3 engineer on larger, multi-line improvement initiatives.
  • Document standard work and best practices so others can follow them.
  • Participate in plant-wide improvement initiatives and best-practice sharing.
  • Travel to support multi-site best-practice sharing or kaizen events.
