KGL locks in $36m Jervois contract. Reading Time: 2 mins read KGL Resources has signed an approximately $36 million accommodation and mine infrastructure contract for its Jervois copper project as development activities accelerate at the Northern Territory operation. The contract with Northern Transportables covers the design, manufacture, supply, transport, installation and commissioning of a 180-person accommodation village and associated mine infrastructure buildings. The village will contain 252 single-occupancy rooms, including 180 newly manufactured rooms and 72 refurbished en-suited rooms. The first 100 new rooms and the principal village facilities are scheduled to be ready for occupation in February 2027, with all 180 new rooms available by April. The remaining 72 refurbished rooms are expected to be relocated and commissioned by June 2027. The package follows completion of KGL's $300 million equity raising, which the company said had provided funding to take its wholly owned Jervois project through construction and into production. "Completion of the $300 million equity raising means the Jervois Project is fully funded through construction and into production, marking a significant milestone for KGL," KGL chief executive officer (CEO) Sam Strohmayr said. "Our focus is now firmly on execution, with development activities advancing across several critical workstreams, including accommodation and mine infrastructure, long-lead process equipment procurement and drilling." Development activity is also gathering pace elsewhere at Jervois. A drilling contractor has mobilised to site for an initial geotechnical program focused on the proposed process plant and related infrastructure, supporting detailed engineering, foundation design and construction planning. Exploration drilling is also set to begin across high-priority targets identified through previous 3D inversion modelling and ongoing geophysics. KGL is finalising an engineering, procurement and construction contract with Sedgman for a two-million-tonnes-per-annum process plant. Procurement has started for critical long-lead equipment, including the SAG and ball mills and associated grinding equipment, while the tender and selection process for an open-pit mining contractor is progressing. "These activities demonstrate Jervois' transition from funding and construction readiness into project execution as we progress towards Final Investment Decision," Strohmayr said. KGL continues to target a final investment decision and the start of the principal construction program in the third quarter of 2026. First sulphide mill feed and process plant commissioning are targeted for the first half of 2028. The high-grade project has an initial 10-year mine life and is expected to produce about 30,000 tonnes of copper annually at steady state, alongside silver and gold by-products.
