Principal Software Engineer 

Bellevue, WA or Remote

You will report to our Sr. Engineering Manager located in our Bellevue, WA office, or you may work remotely from anywhere in the US where Smartsheet is a registered employer.

You Will:

• Work across multiple teams within the Content and Collaboration organization building technology solutions that drive content experiences in Smartsheet. 
• Write software and build scalable back-end services for the content management utilizing cloud native technologies with heavy use of terraform, ruby, and golang.
• Solve challenging distributed systems problems and work with modern cloud infrastructure (GCP, AWS, Kubernetes)
• Influence technical direction of the group towards creating a comprehensive service-oriented architecture
• Guide and mentor team members regarding architecture and best practices
• Review and coach team on project designs for design review presentations
• Forge strong partnership with product management and other key areas of the business

• Influence and mentor other teams of engineers, acting as a technical design mentor and providing architectural and design input
• Lead technical meetings for large audiences
• Work cross functionally with Security Engineering for supporting security and compliance program goals.

You Have:

• 10+ years software development experience building highly scalable, highly available applications
• 10+ years of programming experience with full stack technologies such Ruby, Golang or Python
• 2+ years of experience with cloud technologies (GCP, AWS, Azure, etc.)
• 2+ years of experience with multi-cloud networking and infrastructure
• Experience developing, documenting, and supporting REST APIs
• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent practical experience.
• Legally eligible to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis

Smartsheet provides a competitive base salary range for roles that may be hired in different geographic areas we are licensed to operate our business from. Actual compensation is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, level of professional, educational experience, skills, and specific candidate location. In addition, this role will be eligible for a market competitive incentive opportunity and some roles may be eligible for a RSU stock grant upon accepted offer. California & New York: $210,600 to $286,200 | All other US States: $195,000 to $265,000.
