Requirements
  • Candidates must attain USA Swimming Coaches certification, Coaches Safety Training, CPR and First Aid certification, and pass a USA Swimming background check before starting duties on deck.
  • Candidates must have previous competitive swimming and/or swim coaching experience.
  • Candidates must have experience working with children and age-group swimmers.
  • Candidates must have knowledge of swimming fundamentals and the ability to teach proper stroke technique, starts, turns, and finishes.
  • Candidates must be able to work effectively with swimmers of varying ages, abilities, and competitive levels.
  • Candidates must maintain consistent availability for their assigned coaching schedule throughout the swim season.
Responsibilities
  • Teach and reinforce proper swimming technique, including stroke mechanics, starts, turns, and finishes.
  • Assist swimmers in developing their skills, confidence, fitness, and competitive abilities.
  • Provide positive, constructive, and individualized feedback to support each athlete’s development.
  • Support a positive team culture emphasizing sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, respect, and enjoyment of the sport.
  • Collaborate with other coaching staff to implement the team’s training plans and coaching philosophy.
  • Communicate professionally and appropriately with swimmers, parents, and fellow coaches.
  • Attend assigned swim meets and team events as needed, assisting with warm-ups, race preparation, and athlete feedback.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, inclusive, and supportive environment during practices and team activities.
  • Serve as a positive role model for young athletes and represent 92NY and the Flying Dolphins Swim Team professionally.
