Requirements
  • Graduate from an ARRT-recognized education program or be AART registered.
  • Hold an advanced registry in computed tomography.
  • Have one year of staff technologist experience.
  • Obtain advanced CT registry within one year of hire.
  • Obtain current CPR certification before completing orientation.
  • Have computer usage experience.
  • Demonstrate competency in the relevant Radiology Information System and Hospital Information System modules.
  • Be able to push, pull, and lift patients up to 300 pounds with assistance and lift or move objects up to 30 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Directly assist the radiologist during all aspects of invasive procedures and perform CT scan examinations as directed by the radiologist.
  • Communicate clinical observations during CT examinations to the radiologist and present the recorded clinical history using appropriate documentation.
  • Inject contrast for CT scans according to department policy and complete and review each patient's CT questionnaire before the examination.
  • Perform three-dimensional imaging functions.
  • Provide patients with educational information about their examinations.
  • Maintain professional development through participation in in-service and continuing education programs.
  • Follow downtime procedures accurately to ensure information availability and continuity of patient care.
  • Maintain knowledge of the patient's condition, history, and relevant information for the proposed examination.
  • Ensure the quality of digital images sent to the Picture Archiving and Communication System, verify the correct patient is selected from the worklist, and confirm medical-record accuracy before transmission.
  • Support department performance goals, including achieving the hospital-designated Press Ganey score and providing patient education to every patient.
  • Complete annual peer review of images in accordance with department standards.
