Requirements
  • A Juris Doctor.
  • At least 10-13 years of legal experience in corporate compliance and ethics programs.
  • Experience providing legal counsel to businesses on compliance issues and arriving at efficient solutions.
  • Experience conducting regulatory and corporate compliance risk analysis.
  • Ability to work independently while providing efficient business-oriented advice.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness with multiple stakeholders and diverse constituencies.
  • Executive presence combined with strong interpersonal and organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to proactively provide sound advice and exercise good judgment in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Experience creating and effectuating corporate compliance programs and procedures and implementing compliance training programs.
  • Experience and understanding of working in a complex global environment, including sensitivity to cultures and practices outside the United States.
  • Experience as a people manager or supervisor.
Responsibilities
  • Proactively work with Samsung’s North America businesses to identify risk areas and gaps and develop tools to drive compliance within the businesses.
  • Develop communications and trainings for employees to highlight key compliance messages and convey material changes within Compliance Policies and Annual Compliance Training.
  • Revise, update, and draft new Compliance Policies and guidance documents related to emerging legal or business issues.
  • Run internal investigations related to suspected Compliance violations, including conducting interviews with all related parties, reviewing confidential documents to determine potential policy violations, drafting detailed investigation reports, and determining recommended discipline and/or remedial actions resulting from the investigation.
  • Manage the investigations database and compliance hotline.
  • Provide legal counseling on legal issues including government contracting, healthcare products, import/export compliance issues, lobbying and federal gift regulations, and sustainability-related topics.
  • Oversee the Accessibility Compliance Program mandated by FCC Regulations, including supporting the Customer Care team in addressing concerns raised by consumers with disabilities, guiding Research and Development teams on accessible product design features, and reviewing Samsung’s United States web presence for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
  • Work on Conflict of Interest and Gifts & Hospitality request reviews on a daily basis.
  • Provide data on Investigations, Conflicts of Interest, and Gifts & Hospitality Reviews as needed and draft quarterly reports.
  • Support vendor onboarding and customer due diligence processes.
  • Support the drafting, implementation, and maintenance of Compliance Training initiatives, including Annual Compliance Training.
  • Work with Compliance colleagues to ensure consistency and leverage best practices.
  • Supervise and manage junior compliance attorneys and/or managers.

Samsung shares slip as South Korea's AI expansion demands power equivalent to 20 nuclear reactors

South Korea's ambitious AI expansion will require an additional 25 to 30 gigawatts of electricity, equivalent to roughly 20 modern nuclear reactors. Samsung Electronics closed 0.9% lower at 269,500 won following the announcement. Samsung, SK Hynix, and the South Korean government are advancing an 800 trillion won semiconductor project, pulling factory timelines from the 2040s into the early 2030s. The required energy would match approximately 77% of South Korea's existing 26-reactor nuclear fleet. Samsung reported 171.5 trillion won in quarterly revenue and 89.5 trillion won in operating profit. Whilst the company possesses strong financial capacity for factory construction, South Korea faces the challenge of securing the necessary reactors, transmission infrastructure, and public backing to power this industrial expansion.

Samsung joins Mistral AI's $3.4B round at $23.7B valuation with BlackRock and NVIDIA

Samsung has acquired equity in French AI startup Mistral AI following a €3 billion funding round that values the company at over €21 billion. This represents nearly double Mistral's €11.7 billion valuation from a year ago and marks the largest equity raise for any private European tech company. The round brought in new investors including BlackRock Advent, the EU-backed Scaleup Europe Fund, and PSG Equity. Existing backers NVIDIA, ASML, and Salesforce also participated. Samsung opens Japan AI chip R&D hub for advanced packaging collaboration

Samsung welcomes Apple's folding iPhone, says weight is key to success

Samsung executives have welcomed Apple's entry into the foldable smartphone market, saying competition is "absolutely welcome" ahead of Apple's rumoured folding iPhone debut. The company attributes its success in the category to significant weight reduction, having cut 75 grams from its latest Galaxy Z Fold8 compared to the original model launched seven years ago. The Fold8 now weighs just 201 grams, lighter than Samsung's own Galaxy S26 Ultra candybar phone at 214 grams. Samsung achieved this by analysing approximately 270 components and 180 auxiliary parts, eliminating unnecessary elements and developing innovations like a 0.2-millimetre internal display support plate and "Flex Titanium" screen technology. Apple's folding iPhone, potentially called the iPhone Ultra, is expected to weigh between 230 and 241 grams.

Samsung's foldable phone sales grow 30% as Apple prepares to enter the market

Samsung's foldable phone sales grew 30% year-over-year in volume following the July launch of its Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 devices, the company told Fortune. This follows roughly 30% growth last year, despite higher prices due to memory costs. The Korean electronics firm has sold foldable smartphones for seven years and holds 40% global market share in the category, according to Counterpoint Research. Foldable phones comprised less than 2% of the global smartphone market by unit sales last year. Samsung's new passport-style Galaxy Z Fold 8 accounts for 40% of foldable sales, with the high-end Z Fold Ultra 8 also claiming 40%. The $1,200 Z Flip 8 makes up the remaining 20%. Dave Das, executive vice president at Samsung Electronics America, said 25% more new Samsung customers switch from competitor smartphones for foldables compared to traditional bar-type phones.
