Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent and at least 5 years of experience in mission-critical service management, such as providing IT services, manufacturing, warehouse, retail, military, or managing physical operations in an IT or critical-environment infrastructure.
  • At least 3 years of experience leading a diverse, technical team.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud background check and citizenship verification.
Responsibilities
  • Empower a culture of safety, security, and compliance in all aspects of datacenter operations.
  • Lead a team of Mechanical, Electrical, and Control System professionals supporting Microsoft's online services.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in datacenters.
  • Maximize Critical Environment availability to ensure optimal operational efficiency.
  • Reduce high-impact and human-error Critical Environment incidents year over year.
  • Deliver cost and energy efficiency initiatives.
  • Ensure routine reporting to manage and analyze power, temperature, relative humidity, and service-level agreement monitoring.
  • Establish and enhance strong working relationships and engagement with Engineering Groups and business partners.
  • Work with regional and global peers to share and build best practices across the datacenter portfolio.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least 6 years of enterprise-level experience managing large-scale and complex projects or programs.
  • At least 6 years of experience in Critical Environment infrastructures, including UPS, generators, or air-handling units.
  • At least 6 years of experience in physical IT infrastructures, including servers, SANs, networking, capacity, datacenter racks or enclosures, and structured cabling.
  • Experience managing a budget exceeding $1 million.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience leading a diverse technical workforce or managing global and virtual teams.
  • Applicable certifications in ASICS or inventory control, CompTIA, Microsoft, network technologies, CCNA, ITIL v3 Foundation, Microsoft Operations Framework, leadership development, PMP, or CDCP.
  • A bachelor's degree or technical college certification in mechanical or electrical engineering and/or services.
  • Experience working on large-scale Critical Environment projects.
  • Experience operating IT infrastructure, including servers, SANs, and networking.
  • Ability to obtain an enhanced Australian Government security vetting assessment, such as NV1/2 or PV clearance.

Microsoft launches agentic commerce playbook as AI agents set to capture 15-25% of US e-commerce by 2030

Microsoft Advertising released an agentic commerce blueprint on Friday to help businesses prepare for AI agents making purchases on behalf of consumers. The "Agentic Playbook" focuses on three priorities: ensuring brands get discovered by agents, making purchases seamless, and optimising performance. The blueprint outlines a 90-day implementation structure. The first 45 days focus on building foundations like preparing product feeds and ensuring smooth checkout. The second 45 days concentrate on content optimisation. Bain & Company estimates agentic commerce will account for 15% to 25% of the US e-commerce market by 2030. Microsoft Copilot operates on the Universal Commerce Protocol, connecting it with retailers including Target and Ulta Beauty. On Thursday, Microsoft rolled out AI Max to all accounts, offering features like search term matching and dynamic URL routing for advertising campaigns.

ChronoScale secures two-year Microsoft deal for 50 MW AI compute deployment

ChronoScale has entered a two-year strategic partnership with Microsoft to deploy approximately 50 MW of AI compute capacity, the company disclosed in its annual report filed Wednesday. The project will use NVIDIA GB300 systems with advanced liquid cooling for high-density AI workloads, with completion targeted for the first quarter of 2027. The deployment remains subject to financing and meeting various development milestones. ChronoScale reported $9.7 million in cash and a $42.6 million working-capital deficit as of 31 May. The company has access to a $100 million promissory note from parent firm Applied Digital, with $93 million undrawn. ChronoScale reported fiscal 2026 revenue of $71.6 million, down 15% year-on-year, primarily due to a customer loss in December 2024. Operating loss narrowed to $37.5 million from $55.3 million.
