As the company continues to grow in Ireland and across Europe, Blanckley will help clients with the key challenges they face amid the energy transition. Rajiv Gogna, head of LCP Delta, said, "Alex is a deep expert in the Irish power market and has worked with many different types of organisations and operators, helping them to navigate the energy transition. This represents another step in its growth across European markets, where The Consultancy Company now support clients across a dozen countries. According to Gogna, while LCP Delta has supported clients in the Irish market for a number of years, the challenges the market is now facing, "particularly in light of data centre build out," means it is having to step up its commitment. Blanckley's appointment comes at a pivotal time for the Irish electricity market, to that end. As Ireland is targeting 80% renewable electricity by 2030, major investment in grid infrastructure and recent reforms to the energy storage market are creating new opportunities and challenges for utilities, developers and investors. However, with the power-hungry rollout of data centres across the country, demand for energy is on the rise - providing a new set of challenges to contend with on the road to net zero. Prior to joining LCP Delta, Blanckley was a senior principal in AFRY's Irish power market team, advising a range of clients with interests in the energy transition, including utilities, developers, network operators and infrastructure investors. Earlier, he also worked in equity research and investment. Looking ahead, as head of Irish power markets, he will work in the newly created role to support LCP Delta's continued growth in Ireland and across Europe. Blanckley commented, "Electricity demand has been growing, driven by increased data centre consumption, and is expected to growth further driven by data centres, EVs and heat pumps. This growth requires additional generation capacity, with significant volumes of new peakers, batteries and renewables being contracted and built. It will also require a transformation of demand-side flexibility across the residential, commercial and industrial sectors."
AFRY joins TactoTek IMSE ecosystem as engineering partner. AFRY's 18,000-strong engineering network gives TactoTek on-site access to OEM design teams across Europe for the first time * September 8, 2026 Engineering consultancy AFRY has signed a technology licensing agreement with TactoTek, joining the Finnish firm's In-Mold Structural Electronics (IMSE) ecosystem as an engineering partner to apply the technology across its automotive and mobility programmes. Under the agreement, the Swedish firm will integrate IMSE-based smart surface solutions into vehicle programmes spanning concept through to series production. AFRY brings product and vehicle development capability, industrial design, embedded software and digital engineering to the IMSE ecosystem, drawn from a client base spanning automotive, industrial and mobility sectors. The deal gives IMSE its first European design studio alongside AFRY's 18,000 engineers, who serve clients through on-site assignments. IMSE integrates lighting, touch controls, electrical components and circuitry into moulded three-dimensional structures, replacing conventional multi-component architectures with structural electronics. The result is lightweight smart surfaces that reduce assembly complexity and total system cost. Automakers have awarded mass-production programmes in both interior and exterior vehicle applications. AFRY's inclusion in the ecosystem gives TactoTek a European engineering and design partner with direct client relationships across the OEM supply chain. Both companies describe sustainability as a shared focus; IMSE's structural approach reduces the number of discrete components in surface electronics assemblies.
🇸🇪 AFRY selected to lead engineering for Unipers NorthStarH2 e-methanol plant. 31/08/2026 A key project for fossil-free fuels. AFRY has been awarded by Uniper to deliver a FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) for NorthStarH2, a planned e-methanol production facility in Östersund, Sweden. The FEED work takes NorthStarH2 project from early project development towards a Final Investment Decision. NorthStarH2 is one of Sweden's most promising Power-to-X/e-methanol projects. Once built, the facility is designed to produce around 115,000 tonnes of e-methanol per year. This fuel can help cut fossil emissions in hard-to-abate sectors such as transport and the chemical industry, where methanol is a valuable raw material. The plant brings together two clean inputs. Green hydrogen is produced through electrolysis, powered by 175 MW renewable electricity. That hydrogen is then combined with biogenic CO[2] captured from Jämtkraft's biomass-fired heat and power plant in Lugnvik. The result is fossil-free e-methanol made from renewable power and recycled biogenic carbon. What AFRY will deliver. AFRY's scope covers a complete technical FEED, including strategies, plans, and a cost estimate. AFRY has been selected by Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd to provide engineering, project management and construction supervision services for the 191MW Thana Plaun Hydropower Project in Himachal Pradesh, India. AFRY has been appointed to support the development of the 191MW Thana Plaun Hydropower Project on the Beas River in Himachal Pradesh, India. Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (HPPCL) has selected AFRY to provide detailed design, project management and construction supervision services for the project, which is located in Mandi district. The consultancy assignment will be carried out in two phases. During the first phase, AFRY will provide tender-stage engineering and procurement support. The second phase will cover detailed design and construction supervision during project implementation, together with other project delivery services. "Hydropower is a cornerstone of sustainable energy systems and plays an important role in enabling the energy transition. We are pleased to contribute our global hydropower expertise to a project that will support India's growing demand for clean and dependable electricity," said Ernst Zeller, Head of segment Hydro at AFRY. Galia Green Power secures financing for biomethane project development. Galia Green Power has signed a financing agreement with a consortium of PKO Bank Polski, Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego, and mBank. It is one of the largest financing transactions for biogas and biomethane projects in Poland in recent years. It covers the acquisitions of biogas plants and development investments, including expansion of existing installations and implementation of new biomethane projects. "The financing secured is an important step in implementing our investment plan. Co-operation with three leading financial institutions confirms the quality of the projects we have prepared and the growing importance of biomethane for the energy transition," said Marcin Orlowski, CEO of Galia Green Power. The agreement was concluded for 18 years, and the first tranche will be launched in the current quarter. The financing model enables flexible inclusion of subsequent projects meeting specified technological and environmental criteria. In the future, the available financing pool may be increased by PLN 225 million, allowing further investments to be covered. "As a development bank, we engage in ventures that support the energy transition and build the long-term resilience of the Polish economy. Consortium financing of biomethane projects allows the potential of financial institutions to be combined and the capital necessary to develop this promising market segment to be secured. The implementation of such investments also contributes to expanding know-how in financing decarbonisation projects, which, as scale and generation capacity grow, will play an increasingly important role in Poland's energy transition.
