Senior Software Engineer - Frontend
About the job
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience with a strong front-end focus.
- Solid expertise in React and Next.js, including server-side rendering, static site generation, App Router, and client/server component patterns.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript.
- Experience with Tailwind CSS and component libraries such as shadcn/ui or similar.
- Familiarity with state management using Zustand, Redux Toolkit, or equivalent.
- Experience with schema validation using Zod or similar libraries.
- Ability to design and build RESTful and GraphQL APIs, with a solid understanding of API contracts, error handling, and type safety.
- Experience deploying and working with front-end applications on AWS, including CloudFront, Lambda@Edge or CloudFront Functions, S3, and API Gateway with Lambda.
- Good understanding of front-end performance, including code splitting, lazy loading, caching strategies such as SWR and React Query, and Core Web Vitals.
- Experience debugging across the stack using browser developer tools, network inspection, and log analysis.
- Experience with unit testing using Vitest or Jest, component testing using Testing Library, and end-to-end testing using Playwright or Cypress.
- Ability to discuss technical decisions clearly with teammates and stakeholders.
- Must have the right to work in the United States without requiring Toyota immigration support or sponsorship now or in the future.
- Design and build high-quality front-end features using modern React and Next.js patterns, with a strong focus on performance and user experience.
- Build and maintain backend API services supporting front-end product needs, including RESTful and GraphQL endpoints.
- Own features from design through deployment, including testing, observability, and post-launch monitoring.
- Participate in technical design discussions and contribute well-reasoned proposals and tradeoff analysis.
- Debug and troubleshoot complex issues across the front-end and API layers, from user-interface rendering bugs to slow API responses.
- Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code and uphold a high standard in code reviews.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through pairing, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver features.
- Proactively identify and address technical debt, performance issues, and reliability gaps.
- Experience in the financial services, banking, or insurance industry.
- Familiarity with monorepo tooling such as Turborepo and Nx, and modern build systems such as Vite and esbuild.
- Experience with event-driven architecture on AWS using EventBridge, SQS, or SNS.
- Exposure to design-system contribution or component-library development.
- Experience with React Native or cross-platform mobile development.
- Exposure to GenAI tooling integration in front-end products.
- AWS certifications such as Developer Associate or Cloud Practitioner.
