About the job

Requirements
  • Direct experience working on an FDA-regulated software medical device, preferably one brought to market.
  • Background in diagnostics, digital health, or software as a medical device.
  • 8–10 years of product experience and comfort working in an agile environment.
  • Deep understanding of the Target Product Profile framework and defining a product for clinical, regulatory, and commercial use.
  • Ability to work credibly and collaboratively with AI engineers, clinical scientists, regulatory specialists, and market access strategists.
  • User-centered product judgment, including understanding the distinction between scientific validity and clinical usability and how to address the gap between them.
  • Motivation to learn, help define product direction, apply existing knowledge in new ways, and take on challenges requiring flexible thinking.
  • Comfort working in a 20-person company where the Vice President of Product also performs hands-on work.
Responsibilities
  • Define and own the Target Product Profile, the authoritative document specifying what the product must do, for whom, under what conditions, and to what standard; communicate updates as needs evolve to keep stakeholders aligned.
  • Ensure product attributes address the distinct needs of clinicians, patients, and payers.
  • Ensure product positioning aligns with emerging society guidelines and key opinion leader needs, in coordination with Market Access.
  • Own the standard for clinical usability and establish expectations for clinician and patient use.
  • Lead user interface and user experience development with design and engineering, defining necessary changes based on clinical workflows and physician input from Voice of Customer.
  • Translate physician research findings into prioritized, actionable product improvements.
  • Build a feedback loop so learnings from pilot deployments inform product improvements and the roadmap.
  • Own the product roadmap and work with the cross-functional team to execute it.
  • Own the app experience and hardware expansion, working with mobile engineers to systematically close usability gaps.
  • Define product fit within clinical workflows across agreed channels and care sites, including primary care, behavioral health, VA/DoD, and telehealth.
  • Lead investigative work on clinical integrations, defining integration targets, intended users, and requirements; own strategic and functional requirements rather than engineering implementation.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience bringing an FDA-regulated software medical device to market.

About the company

Senseye creates a Software as a Medical Device for mental health diagnosis, starting with PTSD. It uses a smartphone app to record eye responses with the front camera while users perform simple visual tasks, extracting digital biomarkers from pupil gaze and iris biomechanics. A proprietary machine learning algorithm analyzes these signals to produce a diagnostic report with a severity score within minutes, without specialized hardware. Its goal is to replace subjective self-reports and expand to a broader panel of mental health disorders (like MDD and GAD) for baseline assessment and monitoring of treatment outcomes.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • A 2026 peer-reviewed study found smartphone pupillometry differentiates PTSD using a standard iPhone.
  • ClinicalTrials.gov now shows recruiting Phase 3 validation across six sites and three sponsors.
  • Topcon's Harmony integration can place Senseye inside ophthalmology workflows by 2026.

What critics are saying

  • REVEAL's 1,900-patient Phase 3 readout is due October 2026; failure kills FDA momentum.
  • Senseye depends on one biomarker modality, and specificity against GAD and MDD remains unproven.
  • If the algorithm underperforms versus CAPS-5-R, clinicians reject it and payers never reimburse.

What makes Senseye unique

  • Senseye uses standard iPhone pupil biometrics to score PTSD severity in minutes.
  • Its 2026 whitepaper says the platform targets FDA-regulated medical use.
  • Topcon Healthcare invested September 9, 2025, linking Senseye to ocular-data distribution.
