About the Role

We are looking for a technically minded junior video editor to apply their skills in content production and editing. This role will support The Athletic’s team of producers and editorial team to build and maintain a news-focused video product. Our ideal candidate will have good experience in video editing and post-production in a fast-paced environment and have a good knowledge and a keen interest in technical equipment including cameras, lighting, microphones and editing software.

Responsibilities

Work closely with the production team on video projects, with support and oversight.
Contribute to the technical management of livestreams with large audiences.
Maintain, clean and manage our kit.
Edit several videos per week, with a focus on quick-turnaround, and multi-format renders.
Work with the operations team uploading our videos and creating thumbnails, writing metadata, descriptions, titles & performing general channel & community management on various distribution platforms.
Contribute to the technical management of live-action shoots.
Direct basic live-action shoots, including audio capture.
Assist the other video production teams and editors with additional editing when required.

Requirements

1+ years of relevant industry experience.
BA/BS degree or equivalent professional experience.
Experienced in Adobe Creative Cloud software.
Good editing skills.
Good level of professionalism; driven and motivated with excellent follow-up.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Creative and strategic thinking skills.
Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Broadcast journalism experience, and/or social video editing experience in the sports media industry is desirable.
Must be based in London.
Must be available to work shifts, including weekends and evenings.
