Requirements
  • American Heart Association instructor certification in at least one of Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, or Advanced Stroke Life Support.
  • Willingness to align instructor certification(s) under the Tidewater Center for Life Support.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate assigned activities effectively and efficiently.
Responsibilities
  • Teach Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Heartsaver, First Aid, and Advanced Stroke Life Support courses on an as-needed basis, based on certifications.
  • Be available to instruct at least one class per month in each course for which the instructor has credentials.
  • Adhere to course criteria and standards promulgated by governing bodies and share criteria, standards, and updates with affiliated course directors and instructors.
  • Ensure the security of examinations and training center computer data.
  • Confirm the accuracy of required course records and documentation.
  • Serve as faculty on courses as required to maintain relevant certifications.
  • Maintain requirements for American Heart Association instructor alignment under the Tidewater Center for Life Support for roster submissions.
  • Complete class rosters, issue certification cards and educational credits, and maintain related class records.
  • Coordinate with simulation technicians to schedule and conduct routine cleaning, maintenance, and repairs of models, manikins, life support training equipment, and audiovisual equipment.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • Three years of experience in critical care and/or emergency medicine.
  • Instructional experience.
  • Personal computer experience, including word processing and database management.
