About the job
- Five years of sales or industry experience, or equivalent industry experience in lieu of the required degree.
- A bachelor's degree or recognized equivalent in a business-related field from an accredited university, or equivalent industry experience.
- Five or more years of experience as a Product Manager in a software-as-a-service environment for business-to-business applications.
- Experience working on an agile team using a two-to-four-week sprint cadence.
- Understanding of software user interface best practices and proven success driving software user interface design.
- Working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental Management System.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Own the vision, growth, and profitability of the assigned product.
- Create, communicate, and maintain the product roadmap and backlog, ensuring visibility and transparency of planned work.
- Communicate progress to leadership and explain why key results are or are not being achieved.
- Make decisions and maintain a value-based, prioritized backlog of product opportunities aligned with business strategy and goals, exercising judgment on key tradeoffs.
- Develop data-backed business cases and economic models, and use product discovery techniques to move ideas to prototypes.
- Maintain awareness of viable product solutions offered by third parties.
- Stay current with industry trends and competitors’ enterprise software capabilities.
- Partner with Design, Engineering, and Scrum Masters in an agile team to deliver the product backlog; represent the customer and explain the value behind products and prioritization decisions.
- Build and maintain relationships with organizational stakeholders to communicate status, align priorities, and ensure operational support for go-to-market plans.
- Develop sprint-sized user stories; elaborate epics and features; create and maintain the product backlog; support user and application testing; and coordinate releases.
- Coordinate new and changed functionality with affected business groups to ensure seamless rollout of new capabilities.
- Assist in training global sales teams and prepare materials to support sales.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to customers, industry professional associations, and others to elevate ABS Wavesight brand awareness.
- Ensure marketing and sales materials are appropriate for ABS markets globally.
- Work with ABS groups to cross-sell products that enhance overall ABS offerings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- A master's degree.
- Pragmatic Institute certification.
- Product Management training and/or certification from Pragmatic Marketing.
- Knowledge of compliance business processes.
- Maritime industry experience.
