Requirements
  • A high school diploma or General Educational Development credential is required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, patient care needs, and the role within an interprofessional team is required.
  • Ability to complete delegated tasks within the scope of the role is required.
  • Knowledge of personal care and hygiene necessary for quality of life, with the ability to apply this knowledge to patients daily, is required.
  • Knowledge of risks faced by patients in a healthcare environment and the ability to reduce those risks is required.
  • Knowledge of how to convey respect and collaborate with each patient, family, and designated care partner is required.
  • Knowledge of people with diverse backgrounds and the ability to convey respect and connect effectively is required.
  • Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools, and techniques, including accurately transmitting, receiving, and interpreting ideas, information, and needs, is required.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is required upon hire.
  • LVHN colleagues must successfully complete LVHN's inexperienced technical partner course.
  • Ability to lift and carry 40–50 pounds, push and pull patients and equipment, stand and walk frequently to continuously, and perform role-specific activities such as kneeling, bending, squatting, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation is required.
Responsibilities
  • Communicate with and support the interprofessional team, patients, families, and designated care partners.
  • Perform validated and designated direct and indirect patient-care activities under the direction of licensed clinical team members.
  • Promote and maintain a safe patient-care environment.
  • Maintain supplies and equipment to support efficient unit operations.
  • Conduct patient rounds as assigned, anticipate patient needs, and promptly answer or respond to patient call lights or pages.
  • Serve as a virtual safety associate when assigned based on campus needs.
  • Facilitate clinical examinations under the direction of a distant provider, using required peripheral devices, video-conferencing equipment, and software such as Epic and Vidyo, to conduct comprehensive virtual-care encounters.
