Requirements
  • A minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
  • At least one year of child care experience working in a licensed Ohio Department of Job and Family Services child care program.
  • Experience teaching and working with children between 12 and 18 months of age.
  • A current physical and the ability to pass a Bureau of Criminal Investigation/Federal Bureau of Investigation background check.
  • Basic language, written, and computer skills for communication and documentation.
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for infants and young children.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with a team of teachers and support staff.
  • The ability to create a warm, nurturing, and responsive environment for children and families.
  • Dependability and a good attendance and punctuality record.
  • Current legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • Tdap and MMR vaccinations.
  • TB screening.
  • Availability to work from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
  • The physical ability to kneel, bend, squat, stand, and sit on child-sized furniture or on the floor for extended periods.
  • The ability to repeatedly lift and move children weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfort working in a moderate-to-noisy environment.
  • Preparedness to assist children in emergency situations.
  • The physical ability to remain within arm's reach of children.
  • The ability to participate in safety drills and relocate children, including moving cribs with multiple children to designated safe areas.
  • The endurance to work outdoors in varying conditions and temperatures for prolonged periods throughout all seasons.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in delivering learning experiences tailored to students' developmental needs.
  • Contribute to creating classroom lesson plans.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy learning environment while adhering to licensing and accreditation standards.
  • Work with teachers and support staff to design and execute daily activities and routines for each child's needs.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with families about children's progress and developmental milestones.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and staff meetings to stay current with early childhood education best practices.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Child Development Associate credential, Associate of Arts degree, or higher degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
