Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant - Advanced Care Providers
About the job
- Candidates must have a current New York State license as a nurse practitioner for the specialty, or be a currently licensed New York State physician assistant.
- Candidates must have at least two years of experience practicing as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant.
- Candidates must have Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certifications from the American Heart Association.
- Candidates must work four 10-hour shifts.
- Candidates must be available to work a Saturday every two months and be flexible with weekend coverage.
- Partner with Chief Medical Officers to conduct comprehensive health assessments, including medical histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests; identify patients' health status and needs; diagnose acute and chronic conditions; formulate differential diagnoses; and develop treatment plans.
- Collaborate with Chief Medical Officers to provide primary and specialty care, prescribe medications, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and implement therapeutic interventions.
- Manage chronic conditions, monitor patient progress, and adjust treatment plans to optimize health outcomes.
- Educate patients and families about health promotion, disease prevention, and lifestyle modifications, including immunizations, screenings, and health maintenance.
- Coordinate care with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, consult with specialists, refer patients to appropriate providers, and facilitate continuity of care across healthcare settings.
- Perform clinical skills including phlebotomy, intravenous insertion, and electrocardiograms; see patients independently for urgent weekend visits as needed.
- Maintain accurate and current medical records, including patient histories, assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, and progress notes; assist with patient-care forms such as radiology questionnaires; and comply with legal, regulatory, and organizational requirements.
- Adhere to ethical principles and professional standards, maintain patient confidentiality and respect patients' rights and dignity, and comply with requirements governing nursing practice, licensure, and scope of practice.
- Experience in internal medicine, urgent care, or family medicine.
