Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • At least two years of experience in a mortgage lending environment is required.
  • A proven record of success generating sales in a mortgage lending environment is required.
  • Candidates must currently be working as a Mortgage Loan Officer and closing a minimum of two self-sourced loans per month.
  • Strong organizational skills are required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and accept direction on given assignments is required.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of bank, mortgage, federal, and state lending and compliance or regulatory matters is required.
Responsibilities
  • Generate referral business, leads, and relationships with individuals, existing clients, past clients, and real estate professionals.
  • Cross-sell First United Bank products and services.
  • Work with bank personnel to promote First United in assigned markets.
  • Take complete loan applications and analyze and pre-qualify applicant information to determine the viability of the desired loan program.
  • Pull and analyze credit and compare it for accuracy with the mortgage borrower's statements and loan application.
  • Determine the correct loan options for borrowers based on their current situation, future plans, and preferred loan product.
  • Submit loan applications, preliminary income and asset verification documents, loan disclosures, required credit explanation letters, and executed application forms to processing.
  • Counsel borrowers through the application, approval, and closing process, including reviewing the Closing Disclosure before closing.
  • Attend closings and ensure customer service throughout the process.
  • Meet First United best practices and production standards.
  • Attend assigned production meetings.
  • Maintain high ethical standards and ensure compliance with every borrower.
  • Complete required compliance examinations annually and adhere to First United policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as requested by executive management or a supervisor.
