Responsibilities
  • Welcome patients and visitors by greeting each person in person or on the telephone.
  • Understand insurance requirements and conduct financial conversations with patients.
  • Perform routine clerical, secretarial, and administrative work, including answering telephones, receiving the public, providing customer assistance, data processing, and record-keeping.
  • Maintain patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information for accurate and timely billing.
  • Communicate insurance benefits and expected time-of-service payments to optimize patient satisfaction.
  • Manage clinic flow by notifying providers of patient arrivals, reviewing service delivery against the schedule, and reminding providers of service delays.
  • Maintain business-office inventory and equipment.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patients' personal and financial information.
  • Audit physician schedules to capture and correct scheduling discrepancies.
