Stryten completes acquisition of C&D Technologies and Trojan Battery.

Stryten completes acquisition of C&D Technologies and Trojan Battery. Stryten Energy announced on October 1, 2026, that it had completed its acquisition of C&D Technologies and Trojan Battery Company, which the July agreement identified as a KPS Capital Partners portfolio business. The transaction adds stationary and specialty batteries to the Atlas Holdings portfolio company's manufacturing platform, giving it a broader range of products to offer transportation and standby-power customers. A broader battery offering. Before the combination, C&D Technologies made stationary batteries used for standby power in markets including data centers and telecommunications. Trojan-branded specialty motive batteries served applications including golf carts and aerial lifts. Stryten says the combined company will retain both product brands under the Stryten Energy name. Stryten chief executive Mike Judd said in July that combining the businesses would expand manufacturing and help serve transportation, industrial, essential-power and government customers. Rick Heller, then identified as C&D Trojan's chief executive, said a broader product range would support customers' changing storage needs. Those are the executives' stated commercial aims, not reported sales gains. Scale and transaction limits. Stryten reports that the combined business operates 18 battery manufacturing and component facilities in the United States, Mexico and China, with approximately 4,800 employees worldwide. Its July agreement projected 15 U.S. facilities supported by 3,700 employees. Because the October employee figure is explicitly worldwide and the July figure accompanied a U.S. footprint projection, the two disclosures do not establish workforce growth between announcements. The July agreement anticipated a third-quarter closing, subject to conditions and regulatory approvals. Stryten announced completion on October 1 without giving an effective time. Seller's counsel described the transaction as a sale, while KPS called the completed combination a merger; neither account specifies KPS's proceeds or whether it retained an interest. The buyer's and seller's counsel identify Atlas and KPS with their respective portfolio companies, but the reviewed records do not quantify either sponsor's post-closing interest. Stryten says it intends to invest in U.S. manufacturing capacity, facility upgrades and workforce development, including expanded absorbent glass mat battery capacity for automotive aftermarket customers. It disclosed neither a spending amount nor completed investment under those plans. The transaction terms, including the purchase price, were not disclosed.
