Responsibilities
  • Direct and oversee the department's revenue cycle teams.
  • Report the department's revenue cycle key performance indicators monthly.
  • Plan and implement system and process improvement projects sponsored by the department and health system.
  • Oversee and participate in periodic charges and collections reviews, denials management, and annual audits with internal and external auditors.
  • Participate in budgeting, financial planning, and projections of clinical income and expenses.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the department and health system.
  • Lead and manage five direct reports and thirty-one employees in total.
  • Plan, organize, direct, and coordinate the department's financial revenue cycle operations, including financial planning, budgeting, billing, and accounting functions.
  • Oversee the establishment of department accounting procedures related to the clinical practice revenue cycle.
  • Develop revenue cycle projections of department clinical income and expenses, assist with yearly department budgets, and provide regular financial reports to the chair regarding the department's clinical financial status.
  • Oversee quarterly financial reviews and annual audits with internal and external auditors.
  • Evaluate revenue functions and services, and coordinate the review, analysis, and establishment of fee schedules for the department and related divisions.
  • Assist the chair with establishing and maintaining the department incentive system.
  • Provide ongoing analysis to the department chair and upper management team.
  • Participate in department-sponsored system and process improvement projects.
  • Review revenue calculations, account reconciliations, and supporting information for accuracy, completeness, compliance, and accuracy.
  • Provide ongoing revenue accounting oversight to the department and the medical center and clinics' finance and accounting organization.
  • Assist in preparing monthly management reports with key revenue and operational metrics and analysis for the chair and executive managers.
  • Assist with cash management projections and forecasting activities.
  • Assist in optimizing financial systems and processes to improve financial processes and controls and maintain data integrity and accuracy.
  • Interpret policies and regulations concerning the department's financial activities, including university policies and procedures and federal and state agency guidelines.
  • Direct and develop written justification supporting budget proposals, expenditure items, and financial policy matters.
  • Direct, manage, and supervise the department's billing office.
  • Develop and modify patient billing procedures to optimize income generation.
  • Assist in negotiating and establishing contractual arrangements for professional services.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the department and MSRDP.
  • Represent the department on appropriate committees and meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
