About the company

Red Bull makes and markets energy drinks. It focuses on a signature global beverage and uses a distinct marketing strategy to build the brand. How it works: the drink combines ingredients such as caffeine and sugars (originally based on Krating Daeng) and is carbonated for Western palates, distributed worldwide through large-scale marketing, sponsorships, and events to boost sales. How it differs: it remains privately held by the founding families, avoiding public funding, and relies on a marketing-heavy approach—extreme-sports sponsorships, high-profile events, and a strong brand identity—rather than conventional product features alone. What it aims to do: maintain leadership in the energy-drink category, grow globally through branding and partnerships, and continue expanding its product line and presence without going public.

Red Bull caps 2026 upgrades as Baku development strategies split the grid.

Red Bull caps 2026 upgrades as Baku development strategies split the grid. Red Bull confirmed its Baku package is its final major 2026 update, while Williams debuted an almost completely new car design for the remaining nine races. George Russell posted the fastest lap time of 1m45.387s for Mercedes in the opening practice session at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. The benchmark set the early pace at Baku City Circuit ahead of Red Bull's Max Verstappen. Early mechanical trouble hit the championship leader on the other side of the Mercedes garage. Andrea Kimi Antonelli suffered a hydraulics failure that brought his car to a halt on track after completing nine laps. The breakdown forced the team to cut his running short before he could complete a soft-tyre evaluation run. RacingNews365 reported that Antonelli recovered during second practice, setting the fifth-fastest time in the morning run and adapting to the street layout despite the lost track time. Antonelli holds 292 points and eight victories in the Drivers' Championship after 14 rounds. He leads teammate Russell by 81 points, with Lewis Hamilton trailing by 101 points in third place for Ferrari. Lando Norris sits fourth on 186 points, followed by Charles Leclerc on 167. With nine rounds remaining, between 225 and 306 points remain available across the final calendar stretch. Mercedes leads the Constructors' Championship with 503 points, holding a 145-point buffer over Ferrari. That points gap provides Mercedes room to manage technical glitches, but reliability stoppages during Friday running expose how easily track execution can derail setup plans on street tracks. Red Bull draws the line on 2026 upgrades. Autosport F1 reported that Red Bull's upgrade package introduced at Baku will be its final major car development of the 2026 season. The team is shifting its primary engineering focus and resources toward its 2027 challenger. The Baku update includes a newly designed floor and diffuser fitted to the RB22. Verstappen finished third in second practice and confirmed that the new floor and diffuser developments were working well on track, according to RacingNews365. Red Bull's decision to freeze major development after Round 15 marks a clear operational choice between short-term updates and long-term design cycles. This transition follows earlier calendar shifts, such as how the Mercedes shift and Red Bull's technical modesty in Miami defined aerodynamic choices across fast, street-adjacent circuits. By capping updates now, Red Bull relies on its current floor package to maintain pace against Mercedes and Ferrari. Ferrari sits second in the constructors' standings on 358 points, supported by Hamilton's 191 points and Leclerc's 167 points. Red Bull's locked-in aerodynamic baseline means Verstappen and teammate Isack Hadjar must extract performance without expecting further major factory upgrades over the final eight races. Williams commits to a late-season redesign. While Red Bull halts development, other teams are committing heavily to major car revisions. Williams introduced a significant development package in Baku that team principal James Vowles described as creating an almost completely new car, according to Autosport F1. Williams is taking a high-stakes approach with Carlos Sainz and Alexander Albon, deploying a late-season overhaul to shift its technical trajectory. Track time disruptions extended beyond Mercedes during the opening session. McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri experienced extended periods sidelined inside their garage during first practice, as reported by The Race F1. On-track incidents also required steward intervention. Hamilton received an official reprimand from Azerbaijan Grand Prix stewards for dangerously impeding RB driver Liam Lawson during practice, according to RacingNews365. These operational friction points arrive as Formula 1 management prepares for broader strategic discussions. RacingNews365 reported that F1 executives are set to hold talks with the FIA regarding potential future regulatory changes. Development limits and championship consequence. The contrasting technical choices in Baku show how teams evaluate the final nine rounds. Teams balancing immediate lap time against future design cycles face immediate trade-offs on track. Red Bull's decision to seal its 2026 development ceiling leaves its drivers dependent on setup optimization, while Williams attempts a major mid-season reset. Street circuits like Baku punish lost practice time heavily. Antonelli's FP1 stoppage limited his tyre data ahead of qualifying, even if his FP2 recovery restored operational baseline speed. In previous years, track positioning at Baku heavily influenced Sunday outcomes. Max Verstappen won the 2025 Azerbaijan Grand Prix from pole position, while Oscar Piastri won the 2024 running for McLaren after starting second on the grid. With Mercedes holding 503 points at the top of the standings, the team's balance between sheer single-lap pace and mechanical durability remains the primary story of the title run-in. How these technical packages perform as Red Bull's Baku upgrades shift midfield pressure will shape whether the remaining 306 points alter the championship order. Red Bull has committed its final technical hand, leaving the floor and diffuser package to carry Verstappen through the end of the year. The F1 Formula is an independent, fan-run publication. Max Verstappen delivers verdict on latest Red Bull F1 upgrades.

Max Verstappen delivers verdict on latest Red Bull F1 upgrades. Red Bull has unleashed its latest round of F1 upgrades at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix and the verdict is in from Max Verstappen. Today, 12:45 Max Verstappen believes Red Bull's latest round of F1 upgrades are "working well" at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix after a "strong" practice. Verstappen placed third in FP2 for Red Bull as it deployed a raft of upgrades to the RB22 machine in Baku, including a new floor, diffuser, and sidepod layout. He was the only driver within one second of the Mercedes duo of George Russell and Kimi Antonelli in FP2, and ahead of both Ferraris of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton. Verstappen is seeking a third straight podium finish for the first time this season after third and second in Italy and Spain, respectively, and felt that the Red Bull was in a good place with which to attack the remainder of the weekend. "Today was quite decent, and I was pretty happy with the car," Verstappen said. "RacingNews365 were working on fine-tuning a few bits and trying to find some more performance, so it was a good start for the team. "It looks like RacingNews365 is up there at the moment and could be fighting for a podium place, so RacingNews365 just need to find a bit more pace. "The upgrades are working well, which is positive, so we will see how it plays out tomorrow." The article continues below. Red Bull upgrade feedback. Red Bull's technical director, Pierre Wache also delivered his verdict on the upgrades after hearing the feedback of Verstappen and the returning Isack Hadjar. "Overall, it was quite a positive day from the start of FP1 onwards, apart from the gearbox problem we had on Isack's car, which we managed to fix in time for FP2," he said. "RacingNews365 received good feedback from both drivers about the balance of the car and the upgrades RacingNews365 brought. There are some things RacingNews365 need to fix, and RacingNews365 is looking to find some more speed. "Mercedes looks like the fastest car, especially on the short runs, McLaren and Ferrari are hard to assess due to a lot happening on track, but RacingNews365 should be up there with them. "It was good to see Isack back in the car and being competitive and up to speed straight away, with no issues concerning his wrist." From ruin to a (Red) Bull market - how Prem became hot property.

From ruin to a (Red) Bull market - how Prem became hot property. BBC Sport rugby union news reporter * 1 hour ago Simon Massie-Taylor pulled up outside Newcastle's Kingston Park stadium, and saw fear. The unannounced arrival of Prem Rugby's chief executive at one of the league's clubs had rarely been a good sign. Massie-Taylor started the role in January 2022. In the 18 months that followed, Wasps, Worcester and London Irish, with finances stretched out of shape by Covid, had flamed out of the English top flight. "When those clubs were going into administration, the common denominator was their leadership leaving the room," remembers Massie-Taylor. "The owners, the chief executives, everyone went. "So it was basically up to me, [Rugby Players Association general secretary] Christian Day and [Rugby Football Union director of legal and governance] Angus Bujalski to go in and say, 'we're terribly sorry, this is what's happened, this is what it means for you'. "Telling anyone that they've lost their job is one of the worst bits of having a job. But when it comes to sport, for the people that work in those clubs, it's not just a job, it's a way of life. It was horrible." So when Massie-Taylor pitched up at Newcastle last year, with the club limping from payroll to payroll, onlookers feared the worse. "Some of the players and staff, when they first saw me, thought I was this grim reaper figure coming to deliver another bad news story," he said. This time, he wasn't. Instead he ushered Newcastle's staff into a room decked out in the blue and silver branding of Red Bull. Backed by a hype video filled with signature extreme sport stunts, executives from the energy drink giant, fresh off a flight, spelled out a grand vision for the Prem's bottom club. "There were people in that room in tears, it was pretty special," said Massie-Taylor. That investment was a pivot point for the league. Massie-Taylor remembers how low the bar was to buy into the Prem in his first few, stressful years. "It was 'do you exist, have you got a criminal record, do you actually have any money?," he says. Since then Black Knight - the owners of Premier League side Bournemouth - have bought up Exeter Chiefs, billionaire industrialist Sir James Dyson has taken a 50% share of Bath and financier Steve Zander has made a multi-million pound investment into Northampton Saints. More outside investment is expected soon, with Gloucester and Leicester among those in conversations. "Investor interest in the league has increased significantly in the last 12 months, certainly the last six," says Massie-Taylor, who convened a summit for prospective buyers in London in June and is heading to the United States in October to press flesh and make the case. His confidence is shared by more impartial experts. Matthew Wheeler helped broker Red Bull's takeover of Newcastle, but his specialist investment group A&W Capital has made deals across a variety of sports and media. "I don't think you're drunk from the Kool-Aid to have belief in the Prem, there definitely is a momentum behind it," he says. Andrew Umbers is a co-founder of Oakwell Sports Advisory, which had a similar role in Exeter's takeover. "We put Exeter in front just over 110 sports investors and we had interest probably from around 30," he says. "That interest came from North America, Asia and continental Europe." It is quite the difference from when Massie-Taylor would entertain enquiries from anyone with proof of identity, a clean chargesheet and a positive bank balance. What is behind the turnaround? There are a few factors that are happy coincidence, rather than canny design. The value of sports teams generally has risen steeply. The sale of the LA Lakers for a record $12.5bn (£9.3bn) this summer is the prime example. Wheeler puts the spike down to the guaranteed eyeballs sport attracts in a fragmented media world, its relative resistance to disruption by artificial intelligence as a product and the prestige and scarcity value of owning a sports team. Prem Rugby was also on an upward growth trajectory before the Covid pandemic hit. Even with the loss of three teams, a return to normality has allowed the league to rediscover that groove. A brand of the heft of Red Bull getting involved in the league, undoubtedly sparked interest elsewhere. Prem Rugby Friday 25 September - Saturday 19 June Commentary of every Prem Rugby game is available on BBC local radio, via BBC Sounds or the BBC Sport website. However, proactive changes have played a part. An independent financial monitoring panel has kept across all Prem club finances for the past couple of seasons, and is designed to prevent dangerous levels of risk and spending. That has reassured investors. With a funding deal with the Rugby Football Union and broadcast partnership with TNT Sports locked in for several seasons, there is stability for the foreseeable. A calendar shift has meant England internationals are available more often to their clubs, raising the wattage on the domestic game's star power. And, while Massie-Taylor won't say it himself, he has inspired confidence. A former investment banker, he understands what prospective buyers are looking for. "He's done a good job," says Wheeler. "The governance is important because the first thing an investor wants to know is can they rely on the management and is the league going to be well run. "You may be buying into an individual team, but you're really buying into the league. "You can have the most successful team you want, but if the league's not successful, it doesn't mean anything." Massie-Taylor's most important decision might be his most controversial. He backed the ring-fencing of the league, scrapping relegation and bringing new teams in via a tender process rather than achievements on the pitch. It has been unpopular with fans. While some see a betrayal of sporting tradition, the change gives Prem Rugby a point of difference over lower-level football sides competing for the same investment. No possible drop down the leagues, no danger of a distressed asset. "It is a real thing for US investors," says Massie-Taylor. "There was a fear and, to some extent, a handbrake on investment because of that financial jeopardy." It is just one aspect of the league that makes prospective American buyers comfortable. The upper and, from this season, lower limits on how much Prem clubs can spend on players' salaries are common in Stateside sport, as is the equitable sharing of media revenues. There has also been a shift to centralise deals and maximise revenues. A proposal to have one kit manufacturer for the whole league - something seen in America's 'big four' leagues (NBA, NFL, MLB and NHL) - has been floated in the past. "For an investor, owning a Prem Rugby team is more is more like owning an NFL team than it is like owning a Premier League football team [in that regard]," says Wheeler. It was noticeable that Brett Gosper, formerly the head of World Rugby, now leading NFL Europe, was on hand at Prem Rugby's investor summit to underline those parallels. The combination of features of a franchise league, with the long rivalries and established, loyal fanbases that a start-up competition lacks, makes the Prem a rare prospect. "American investors are interested in under-commercialised sport, below the tier-one leagues such as Premier League, NFL or the IPL, that are at a turning point in their cycle," says Umbers. "We think Prem Rugby is one of those." Wheeler agrees. "Rugby is not a big sport in America, so there has got to be some education going on," he says. "But will American investors be interested once they understand the dynamics? Yes." Massie-Taylor knows the margins are narrow. A 10-team league cannot afford any more clubs to go under. There are financial debts and a dependency on owner generosity across the league. But he heads to America with momentum. "We've proved there's opportunity going forward," he says. "The thing that's niggling us now is the fear that we don't make the most of it. That's the pressure we all feel to really crack on." It isn't just the players aiming to start the season fast. Formula 1 News: McLaren brings new H-wing as 2026 development continues.

Formula 1 News: McLaren brings new H-wing as 2026 development continues. (GMM) McLaren will bring a new version of its Macarena-style H-wing to Baku this weekend as Formula 1's leading teams take different approaches to the remaining development of their 2026 cars. Auto Motor und Sport reports that McLaren removed the rotating rear-wing concept, widely nicknamed the 'Macarena', in Madrid simply because that specification did not suit the required downforce level. For Baku, McLaren has developed a new version for a slightly higher-downforce range, although the very long straight means the team could still revert to the flatter Monza specification for the race. A new floor is also coming, aimed particularly at improving efficiency and addressing the car's weakness in slower corners. Ferrari, meanwhile, is continuing development because Fred Vasseur says much of the work can now carry directly into 2027. "We are not in the same situation as 12 months ago," said the team boss. "Because what we develop today, we can transfer to next year's project. This means that we will continue working, perhaps on other things, other aspects, somewhat less in the area of aerodynamics, somewhat more on other topics." "But 80 percent of the developments we are undertaking now will be implemented next year." Mercedes has already shifted more fundamentally towards 2027. "The year 2027 began some time ago, long before the summer," Toto Wolff said. "During the summer, we reallocated resources to the next year, which is proceeding as planned, regardless of where we stand in the championship." Williams will introduce a substantial Baku package, but Alex Albon freely admits the team's development rate has not matched its midfield rivals. "If you think about us in a normal year, Baku would have put us back in contention, but we have to be honest with ourselves," he said. "The pace of development this year is tremendous, and we've fallen behind." Red Bull's priority is more fundamental, as engineers continue trying to understand the mysterious loss of performance Max Verstappen has described as "car degradation". Laurent Mekies says progress was made in Madrid but warned the problem will not disappear quickly. "We haven't implemented all the solutions in the car yet, but I am confident that we are on the right track," said the French engineer. "It won't be a quick process, so it's something that will probably keep us busy for the entire next year."

Kroger pulls Red Bull from shelves nationwide amid supplier pricing dispute

Kroger has removed Red Bull from all its stores and fuel centres nationwide, with the last stock sold in August and displays removed by 31 August, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported. The grocer continues to sell competing energy drinks including Monster, Rockstar and NOS. The move comes as Kroger's chief executive Greg Foran pushes back against supplier price increases amid ongoing inflation. The company plans to expand its value private brand Smart Way from 130 items to 1,000 products. Kroger's private-label brands generated $39 billion in sales last year, representing over a quarter of its $148 billion total revenue. Kroger operates more than 2,700 stores nationwide.
