Requirements
  • Graduate of an ARRT or NMTCB accredited school.
  • Registered CT Technologist with the ARRT (CT) or NMTCB (CT).
  • Must hold American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).
Responsibilities
  • Collect pertinent medical information and review the physician’s order to identify the reason for examination and potential contraindications.
  • Explain the procedure to the patient and ensure the consent form is signed if required for the examination.
  • Position the patient and administer oral, rectal, or intravenous contrast as required; monitor the patient’s reaction and respond to adverse reactions with emergency procedures as necessary.
  • Select equipment parameters and log pertinent information.
  • Perform scanning procedures and modify parameters as required to improve visualization of the desired anatomy.
  • Organize images, perform the scan, and transfer the examination to the PACS system.
  • Aid with transportation of patients to and from the Emergency Room and inpatient areas.
  • Communicate with the radiologist regarding acute stroke patients and certify compliance with acute stroke protocols.
  • Perform point-of-care i-STAT testing and screen for contrast contraindications.
  • Enter patient charges into the computer.
  • Monitor equipment functionality and performance and refer problems to the CT Supervisor.
  • Assist in orienting and training personnel as necessary.
  • Practice proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures and immediately report equipment malfunctions or unsafe conditions.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior training or experience in Computerized Tomography (CT) scanning.
  • Ability to insert intravenous catheter.
