  • Active licensure as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Social Worker, or equivalent in the state of Illinois is required.
  • A Master’s degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or a related field from an accredited institution is required.
  • A minimum of one year of experience with direct contact with patients and individuals with behavioral health and special needs is preferred.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
  • Completion of advanced MOAB training is required within 90 days of hire.
  • Demonstrated knowledge necessary to provide age-appropriate care to patients served on the assigned unit, including knowledge of growth and development principles and the ability to assess and interpret patient-status data for neonate, pediatric, adolescent, and/or geriatric populations, depending on the unit.
Responsibilities
  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy to clients experiencing emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges.
  • Coordinate with medical professionals, social workers, and other healthcare providers within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Perform comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments to determine clients’ mental health needs and establish appropriate treatment plans.
  • Provide evidence-based individual, group, and family therapy using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, trauma-informed care, and other relevant modalities.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans, aligning goals with clinical best practices and adjusting them based on client progress.
  • Offer crisis intervention and stabilization for clients experiencing acute psychological distress, including safety planning and risk assessments.
  • Work with psychiatrists, Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, primary care providers, mental health professionals, and other interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records, including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries, in accordance with regulatory, billing, and organizational requirements.
  • Support clients in accessing resources such as housing, employment, legal services, and financial assistance.
  • Provide psychoeducation to clients and their families on mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
  • Adhere to applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical standards in mental health care delivery.
  • Intervene appropriately and therapeutically in crisis situations using crisis-intervention prevention techniques such as MOAB.
  • Maintain professional conduct that enhances the therapeutic environment.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with unit personnel and other hospital employees through appropriate communication.
  • Support an environment conducive to professional practice by functioning as a role model and resource person.
