About the job

Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Operations Research, Mathematics, Energy Systems, or a related quantitative field is required.
  • The Manager level requires 7 or more years of relevant experience, while the Senior Manager level requires 10 or more years.
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more major U.S. power markets, including ERCOT, PJM, NYISO, ISO-NE, MISO, SPP, CAISO, WECC, or SERC, is required.
  • Experience leading consulting engagements, analytical studies, or commercial evaluations related to energy markets is required.
  • Experience managing client relationships and serving as a primary point of contact is required.
  • Demonstrated success supporting business development, proposal efforts, or account growth initiatives is required.
Responsibilities
  • Lead multidisciplinary consulting teams executing power market studies, asset valuations, financing and merger and acquisition transaction support engagements, and strategic advisory projects.
  • Oversee development of long-term energy, capacity, ancillary service, and renewable energy certificate price forecasts across major U.S. power markets.
  • Ensure the technical quality, commercial relevance, and timely delivery of client-facing work products.
  • Review and provide guidance on power market modeling using PROMOD, PSLF, and other analytical tools.
  • Present analyses and recommendations to executive-level client audiences.
  • Develop and maintain trusted advisor relationships with existing and prospective clients.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within existing accounts and emerging market sectors.
  • Lead proposal development efforts, including scope definition, pricing, and staffing strategies.
  • Support growth initiatives related to energy transition, battery storage, data centers, transmission, and power market investment activity.
  • Represent ICF at industry conferences, client meetings, webinars, and other external forums.
  • Develop expertise in power market fundamentals, market design, policy developments, transmission planning, resource adequacy, and emerging technologies.
  • Publish white papers, market insights, presentations, and other thought leadership content.
  • Contribute to enhancements of ICF's proprietary market forecasting models, databases, and analytical capabilities.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop junior consultants and analysts.
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, training, and performance development activities.
  • Foster collaboration across market regions and technical disciplines.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Energy Systems, Operations Research, or an MBA is preferred.
  • Experience with PROMOD, PSLF, PLEXOS, Aurora, or similar market simulation tools is preferred.
  • Understanding of project finance, merger and acquisition transactions, asset valuation, or investment decision support within the energy sector is preferred.
  • Experience evaluating renewable energy, battery storage, transmission, and large-load opportunities is preferred.
  • Experience using artificial intelligence-enabled tools, including Microsoft Copilot, generative artificial intelligence platforms, machine learning applications, and advanced analytics tools, to improve productivity, automate workflows, and accelerate research is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Python, R, SQL, or other analytical tools is preferred.
  • Strong financial modeling capabilities are preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management skills are preferred.
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities are preferred.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills are preferred.
  • Ability to communicate complex analytical concepts to executive and non-technical audiences is preferred.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset focused on client service and business growth is preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously is preferred.
