Requirements

  • An MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification is required.
  • An undergraduate degree in Economics, Business, Engineering, or a quantitative discipline is required.
  • Eight to twelve years of progressive experience in customer strategy, pricing, operations, or a directly adjacent domain, with meaningful exposure to global, multi-market environments.
  • A demonstrated track record of owning a financially significant operational lever and managing it with analytical precision and strategic judgment.
  • Prior experience leading and developing teams, with comfort operating as both a senior individual contributor and a people leader.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and data analysis, including the ability to build and pressure-test analytical models underpinning policy decisions.
  • Fluency with experimentation methodology, including test design, statistical significance, holdout analysis, and translating results into policy.
  • Experience working with or alongside engineering teams to define product and system requirements for rules-based or AI-assisted decisioning tools.
  • Comfort with financial modeling, including building business cases for compensation investment, forecasting spend impact, and tracking actuals against plan.
  • Senior executive presence to present and defend a clear point of view in discussions with general managers, chief operating officers, or chief financial officers.
  • Ability to make defensible decisions under ambiguity and adjust as evidence develops.
  • Ability to hold people to standards while sustaining effective cross-market and cross-functional relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Own the global strategy, architecture, and governance for customer compensation across markets and brands.
  • Own the end-to-end strategic vision for categorizing customer errors and determining compensation across markets, brands, and contact channels.
  • Lead the design and continuous evolution of the compensation engine with Technology, defining rules, thresholds, segmentation logic, and automation frameworks for recovery decisions at scale.
  • Define principles for balancing customer generosity with cost discipline and translate them into operational rules across market and brand variations.
  • Partner with Technology to ensure the compensation engine is scalable, auditable, and capable of supporting dynamic, AI-assisted decisioning.
  • Set the global roadmap for compensation experimentation, including A/B tests across offer types, value levels, channel timing, and segmentation variables.
  • Apply behavioral economics frameworks to assess how recovery offers affect long-term retention, repurchase behavior, and brand perception.
  • Define experimentation measurement standards, including test success, evidence required for global rollout, and synthesizing results into durable policy changes.
  • Partner with Analytics & Insights to ensure experiment design, sample integrity, and rollout analysis meet a rigorous evidence standard.
  • Own the global compensation profit-and-loss line, tracking spend by market, error category, customer segment, and channel, and managing cost-per-incident and avoidable-contact targets.
  • Identify and close financial leakage from compensation issued without policy justification, at incorrect values, or at the wrong frequency.
  • Build reporting infrastructure that makes compensation economics visible to GCX leadership, market general managers, and Finance with sufficient granularity and context for decision-making.
  • Define the balance between cost optimization and customer lifetime value investment.
  • Own the global fraud and abuse prevention framework, including policies, detection logic, thresholds, and escalation paths that protect the business without creating friction for genuine customers.
  • Lead policy governance, including quarterly reviews, market exception management, escalation adjudication, and framework versioning across brands and markets.
  • Serve as the final authority on complex, cross-market policy gaps and resolve ambiguity with speed and consistency.
  • Maintain global standards while allowing principled market-level adaptation where local context requires it.
  • Represent the compensation function in senior forums and translate customer economics into requirements for Operations, Technology, Finance, and market general managers.
  • Hold cross-functional partners accountable for upstream data quality, operational accuracy, and system reliability supporting the compensation engine.
  • Drive adoption of policy changes across markets and brands through communication and change-management plans.
  • Influence at vice president and director level across functions and escalate strategic blockers rather than routine alignment.

Desired Qualifications

  • A background in subscription commerce, logistics, or consumer-facing operations is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with customer-recovery economics in high-volume, low-margin environments is an advantage.
