Requirements
  • Three years of experience working with people with intellectual disabilities and/or developmental disabilities.
  • Knowledge of New York State and Office for People With Developmental Disabilities regulations, including New York Codes, Rules and Regulations Title 14 Parts 624, 625, and 633, The Justice Center, and quality assurance and compliance practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills and reliability in decision-making.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Well-developed team skills, unquestioned integrity, and the experience, confidence, and presence to effectively handle sensitive issues.
  • Valid New York State driver's license acceptable to agency insurance standards, with valid insurance and an insurance card if using a personal vehicle.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, IRMA, Therap, and web-based platforms.
  • Ability to sit and/or use a computer for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to safely perform bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling as needed in the workplace and lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Demonstrated interest and ability to facilitate desired outcomes for individuals served while adhering to agency standards, policies, and state regulations.
  • Ability to maintain training and certification in all required areas.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful or demanding situations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct, document, summarize, and present audits and investigations while adhering to the agency's mission.
  • Ensure a person-centered approach is applied to all facets of quality and compliance.
  • Conduct investigations and complete all appropriate documentation, including use of Office for People With Developmental Disabilities and Justice Center online incident applications.
  • Ensure incidents are appropriately reported in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Systematically review incident reports to identify and analyze root causes, antecedents, and trends under the direction of the Compliance Officer.
  • Prepare and present investigatory reports, recommendations, and pertinent collateral information to the Director of Administration and Incident Review Committee as appropriate.
  • Ensure investigations are properly documented and filed in accordance with agency, Office for People With Developmental Disabilities, and Justice Center investigatory policies and procedures.
  • Complete and present quality assurance audits.
  • Complete and present compliance audits.
  • Maintain knowledge of regulations and assist with ensuring agency compliance while adhering to the agency's mission.
  • Accurately interpret and apply policies, procedures, and regulations in accordance with person-centered philosophies.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
  • Attend professional meetings and trainings as requested.
  • Participate in committee membership as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Director of Administration, Compliance Officer, or designee.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's or bachelor's-level degree is preferred.
  • Qualification as an Office for People With Developmental Disabilities-trained investigator with at least one year conducting investigations in an Office for People With Developmental Disabilities setting is preferred.
  • Experience in self-direction, as a Medicaid Service Coordinator, or as a residential manager is preferred.
