Requirements
- An Associate's Degree in Nursing is required.
- No prior experience is required.
- A current Wisconsin or multistate Registered Nurse license, or eligibility for Wisconsin licensure, is required.
- Basic Life Support certification is required within three months of starting the position.
Responsibilities
- Provide assessment and treatment of patients and quality professional nursing care.
- Assist medical providers with medical procedures, diagnostic results, and other requested procedures.
- Use the nursing process in all patient encounters, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
- Perform nursing procedures, including therapeutic phlebotomies and allergy injections.
- Administer medications by all routes and instruct patients about medication therapy.
- Triage and screen telephone calls related to patient care, perform nursing assessments, and implement appropriate care using protocols and standing orders.
- Perform delegated medical acts and supervise LPNs and unlicensed personnel as needed in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act.
- Assess patient status and participate in emergency care using standing orders or under direct medical-provider supervision.
- Manage patient flow and perform patient-rooming workflows.
- Collect laboratory samples.
- Schedule referrals and outpatient diagnostic procedures, provide patient preparation information, and coordinate prior authorizations.
- Establish working relationships and teach protocols for patient education, family counseling, and general public information.
- Mentor new staff and help facilitate department functions while ensuring policies and procedures are followed.
- Lead and participate in site process and policy improvement teams.
- Cross-train and staff other clinics as needed.
- Assist in developing and implementing policies, protocols, standing orders, and quality-assurance standards.
- Perform other duties as required.
Desired Qualifications
- A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
- One to three years of nursing experience in a healthcare setting, ideally in a medical clinic, is preferred.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification is preferred.
