Responsibilities
  • Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media. This includes staying current on techniques related to stream restoration, erosion protection, and the use of spatial data such as digital topography and aerial imagery.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently. This includes leading field data collection exercises, supervising monitoring studies, synthesizing data, and analyzing technical information and reports for use in natural hazard risk assessments, channel restoration, and erosion protection initiatives.
  • Health, Safety, and Environment: Follow the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well-being of self and others in the workplace. Identify patterns of risky behavior within the team and take appropriate action to resolve them, escalating serious issues as appropriate. This extends to ensuring safe practices during field programs and construction implementation of restoration designs.
  • Client & Customer Management (External): Manage relationships with small clients while also helping senior colleagues manage relationships with larger key clients and customers. Provide technical updates and support throughout project delivery, including during stream restoration, corridor studies, and erosion protection projects.

  • Bid Solicitation/Request for Proposal/Tender Preparation: Gather information and resources, and draft and complete standard requests for bid solicitation requests for proposal (RFP) and requests for tender (RFT) on the requester side. Provide input based on experience managing stream and habitat restoration projects, and hazard assessments.
  • Community of Practice Management: Participate in a community of practice in a defined area of expertise or consulting to begin to build own expertise. Share knowledge and mentor junior staff in areas such as field methodologies, data analysis, spatial information usage, and project execution.
  • Solutions Analysis: Analyze specific problems and issues to find the best solutions. Solutions could be technical or professional in nature. This includes applying findings from corridor and crossing studies, erosion risk assessments, and restoration monitoring programs to inform practical, site-specific solutions.
  • Insights and Reporting: Prepare and coordinate the completion of various data and analytics reports. Report on field data outcomes, monitoring studies, and spatial analysis to support project planning and decision-making.
  • Sampling and Testing: Collect a range of samples for laboratory testing and undertake testing in accordance with statutory frameworks and best practice to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Support this with field data collected during stream and habitat restoration activities.
  • Habitat Management: Contribute to a process of managing saltwater habitats, focusing on environmental conservation. Coordinate with field teams to integrate restoration design implementation and monitoring as part of broader habitat management objectives
Desired Qualifications
