Neurealm advances Functional Safety for Physical AI with Advantech, bringing outside-in Robot Safety to industrial edge.

Neurealm advances Functional Safety for Physical AI with Advantech, bringing outside-in Robot Safety to industrial edge. Built on NVIDIA IGX Thor and the NVIDIA Halos Outside-In Safety Blueprint, the solution will be demonstrated at the International Robot Safety Conference 2026 DETROIT, MI, UNITED STATES, October 30, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ - Neurealm, a Physical AI to Agentic AI services company, today announced that its Outside-In Safety solution for industrial robotics now runs on the Advantech MIC-735-IT, an industrial-grade edge AI platform built on NVIDIA IGX Thor. Using the NVIDIA Halos Outside-In Safety Blueprint and the IGX Thor Safety Extension Package, the solution is designed to generate a real-time hardware emergency stop (e-stop) for robotic systems operating in collaborative environments. Neurealm will demonstrate the solution with Advantech at the International Robot Safety Conference (IRSC) 2026, hosted by the Association for Advancing Automation (A3) at Huntington Place, Detroit, on November 4. Extending robot safety beyond onboard sensors Robots on the factory floor have traditionally relied on onboard, or inside-out, sensors to manage their immediate safety envelope. Outside-in safety adds a second layer: external infrastructure cameras monitor the shared workspace from multiple vantage points and establish virtual safety zones around the robot. As more robots work alongside people, this wider view helps address blind spots that onboard sensors alone may miss. How the solution works The NVIDIA Halos pipeline within the IGX Thor integrates cameras that continuously monitor the workspace to ensure collaborative safety. Software running on the Central Complex (CCPLEX) detects potentially unsafe events in the workspace and generates corresponding triggers, which are routed to the real-time Functional Safety Island (FSI). The safety software running on the FSI aggregates these triggers while simultaneously monitoring the correct operation of the CCPLEX itself, before generating hardware emergency stop (e-stop) signals to bring industrial machinery to a safe state. "Vision AI has given manufacturers a far richer picture of what is happening around a robot. The next step is making sure that insight can trigger a dependable safety response," said Sanjay Jayakumar, President, Semiconductor, Embedded & Automotive Business, Neurealm. "By bringing our Outside-In Safety solution onto the Advantech MIC-735-IT, built on NVIDIA IGX Thor and NVIDIA Halos, we are moving this work closer to how safety needs to be deployed in real industrial environments." "Bringing Physical AI into real-world robotics requires functional safety to be addressed at the system level. Advantech's MIC-735-IT, powered by NVIDIA IGX Thor and designed to support Safety MCU integration, provides a robust hardware foundation for outside-in safety architectures. Combined with Advantech's design and manufacturing services and system integration expertise, we help customers develop application-specific safety architectures and support alignment with applicable standards and derived requirements, including IEC 61508 and ISO 13849. By combining high-performance AI computing with functional-safety-oriented system design, Advantech helps enable safer human-robot collaboration in real-world environments," said Logan Wang, Senior Product Manager of Applied Server Group, Advantech. Building on a year of Outside-In Safety milestones Neurealm first demonstrated its Outside-In Safety work at NVIDIA GTC 2026 in March, followed by Hannover Messe in April and Automate 2026 in June. Neurealm is an ecosystem partner of NVIDIA Halos for Robotics and has joined the NVIDIA Halos Inspection Lab, reflecting its commitment to functional safety and AI integrity. See it at IRSC 2026 Visitors can see a live demonstration of the Outside-In Safety solution running on the Advantech MIC-735-IT at the event. About Neurealm Neurealm is an AI-first technology services company helping enterprises build the intelligent systems that power the future. In terms of quarterly operations, Advantech's consolidated revenue for Q3 2026 was NT$32.44 billion, up 82% year-on-year, setting a record high for quarterly revenue. Quarterly gross profit was NT$11.896 billion (gross margin 36.7%), operating profit was NT$6.795 billion (operating margin 20.9%), consolidated net profit after tax was NT$6.218 billion (up 125% year-on-year), and consolidated earnings per share after tax for Q3 was NT$7.15, with quarterly revenue and profit both hitting new records. Expressed in US dollars, Advantech's cumulative revenue for the first three quarters of 2026 reached US$2,485 million, up 46% year-on-year. By region, North America, Europe, mainland China, North Asia, Taiwan, and emerging markets all achieved double-digit year-on-year growth, increasing by 58%, 36%, 55%, 43%, 72%, and 37%, respectively. In terms of business group performance, the IoT Automation Sector (iAutomation), Intelligent System Sector (iSystem), and Embedded Sector performed well, with double-digit year-on-year growth of 25%, 49%, and 40%, respectively. The Intelligent Service Sector (iService) grew by a single-digit 7% year-on-year. Chen Ching-Hsi, CFO and General Manager of Integrated Operations Management at Advantech, said that Q3 benefited from the development of the edge AI market and strong demand in application areas such as semiconductor equipment and smart healthcare; combined with supply chain fluctuations and the effect of component price increases, customers continued to place orders actively, driving cumulative revenue up 49% year-on-year and setting another record high. Operating profit and net profit also grew strongly year-on-year; however, due to rising prices of key components, gross margin declined in the short term compared with the same period last year. The book-to-bill ratio (B/B Ratio) for Q3 was 1.64, with both order intake and shipment amounts continuing to grow quarter-on-quarter; all three major regions grew compared with the previous quarter, with North America reaching 2.12, while Europe and mainland China rose to 1.52 and 1.50, respectively, indicating that overall order momentum remains strong. Looking ahead to Q4, although raw material cost fluctuations and supply chain challenges remain, Advantech has launched corresponding arrangements to ensure stable long-term supply and continue its cost pass-through mechanism, and is expected to maintain high operational resilience. At the same time, Advantech is accelerating investment in key markets such as the United States, Japan, and Taiwan to strengthen global operations and local service capabilities; among these, its new headquarters in Tustin, Southern California, has officially been inaugurated and begun production, and by integrating local assembly, technical services, and customer collaboration resources, it will accelerate its response to North American market demand and capture growth opportunities in edge computing and AI applications. Advantech continues to take "Edge Computing & AI-Powered WISE Solutions" as the core focus of its medium- and long-term brand development, deepening software and hardware platform integration and cooperation with the global industry ecosystem, and actively promoting the scaled implementation of Edge AI in various vertical industries.

Advantech unveils five-layer robot platform with built-in functional safety on NVIDIA IGX Thor

Advantech (TWSE: 2395) has expanded its Physical AI and robotics platform to meet demand for safe, validated, and deployable robots. The Taipei-based industrial IoT company built the platform on a five-layer architecture: perception, AI computing and motion control, functional safety, production and validation, and deployment and management. Its MIC-735-IT, powered by NVIDIA IGX Thor, can be configured with a Renesas Safety MCU. The design separates the AI compute path from an independent safety path that monitors system health and detects faults. Advantech supports customers working toward standards including IEC 61508 and ISO 13849. System integrators or end customers remain responsible for final hazard analysis, validation, and certification. The company will demonstrate the systems at NVIDIA GTC Berlin 2026.
